You gotta give it to Michelle Malkin. She picks things up faster than any other mainstream blogger I know of.
Just moments ago, she posted about a NY Times headline that could lead the reader to believe that we are just moments away from screaming out surrender.
As she mentions, it’s just in time for Memorial Day. Liberals and the MSM are using the decency of average Americans (or the moderate voters Democrats will be trying to pick up) to try and persuade Americans that we are indeed losing the war. It’s mighty interesting that they play these games while simultaneously spouting lies about 76% of this country that want to call it quits. It seems that not only can they get their own Democrats to vote with them on these issues in the House and Senate, but perhaps they are losing confidence in their own loony rhetoric.
Amazingly; Democratic Presidential candidate John Edwards – on his own website- is advocating using Memorial Day as a campaign to discourage our troops and embolden our enemies.
On a day in our country where we commemorate our troops’ bravery and historic accomplishments, John Edwards and the NY Times want to erase that to appeal to Cindy Sheehan.

You bring up a good point about the Dem’s not being able to pick up the votes if one assumes the nation-at-large disagrees with being at war in Iraq.
When we vote, do we vote to elect representatives who will, despite their own convictions, fight to represent the opinions of their constituents, or do we vote to elect leaders who will do what is right, even if said action is contrary to the wishes of their constituents? And what about the latter who *think* they’re doing right, but not?
And about those elected leaders…. do they fight to represent those who voted for them, for the greater good, or for their own personal gain?
Well I do not believe that Democrats are being elected on the basis of support from anti-war nuts. I believe that much of the media has been mis-leading with the alleged “polls” regurgitated by fine establishments like Newsweek and by CBS. If indeed these Democrats are representing the anti-war crowd, they would vote in step with them. But unfortunately, the mainstream Dems cannot hold one position in the area of national security.
Republicans by in large has maintained the same position since day one.
This is not good news for Dems who are using the anti-war crowd to win the primary but then have to cleverly flip-flop to attract the moderates nescessary to actually win the real election in 2008.
I really don’t think America is that dumb and I think the Democrats’ presidential candidates are terrified.
Except of course for John Edwards who thinks that the entire country as big of sissies as he is.
