Iranian Delusions

I nearly fell out of my seat when I read this one.  The Iranians are predictably upset by a US proposal to sell $20 billion worth of weaponry to Saudi Arabia.  I have my own qualms and concerns about that as well.  But the official reaction coming out of Tehran concerning the matter is what nearly made me choke on my Big Mac.

Iran’s foreign ministry spokesman on Monday criticized a U.S. plan to sell state-of-the-art weapons to Saudi Arabia, saying it would undermine security in the Middle East, the state broadcasting company reported.

Mohammad Ali Hosseini’s comments followed reports last week that the U.S. planned to sell Saudi Arabia an estimated $20 billion of sophisticated weaponry, including advanced air systems that would greatly enhance the striking ability of Saudi warplanes.

“What the Persian Gulf region needs is stability and security,” Hosseini was quoted as saying on the Web site of the state broadcasting company. “Americans have been trying to disturb it by selling weapons to the region.”

What the bloody HELL???  Iran is complaining that we threaten to undermine regional stability???  They are upset about us selling weapons to other nations???  This the pinnacle of all gall and absurdity.

The Iranians give the s*** away.  They pour tens of millions of dollars into supporting avowed terrorist organizations (at the expense of their people) and coordinate attacks with their twisted minions on Americans in the Middle East, Israel and other pro-western Arab nations.  If I need to explain this hypocrisy anymore, then just close the window and read another blog.

The truth is – they are worried about the US selling weapons to a nation (Saudi Arabia) that has taken a stand (albeit quiet) against the regime in Tehran.  Saudi Arabia is a nation that has openly expressed concerns about Iranian plans in the region.  And Saudis have leaked it to the media that they would be prepared to  protect Sunni interests in Iraq if the US were to suddenly withdraw it forces – much the in the same manner as Shi’ite militias are merely a proxy for Iran.

I find it utterly hypocritical for Iran to make such ridiculous statements.  Perhaps the US is trying to force the mullahs’ hand by announcing the weapons sale.  Maybe they are intent on following through.  Nevertheless, I cannot imagine a more absurd reaction coming out of the mouths of Iranian officials.

If you have any doubt about the sanity of the people we are dealing with out of Tehran, let this serve as clue #1.  Here’s your sign, folks!

More Ron Paul Idiocy

This comment cracks me up left by a commenter on my last post:

“Using fear for political ends is the very essence of the neocon strategy, historically.”

Good lord, I’ve done this before but here goes:

  • Starting in 1979 under the Carter administration, our embassies in Tehran were seized and Americans were held hostage for 444 days.
  • In 1982 the U.S. Embassy in Beirut was blown up and 63 Americans were killed.
  • In 1983 the Marine barracks in Lebanon were blown up and 241 Americans were killed.
  • In 1985 the Italian Cruise Ship was seized and American was shot and thrown overboard with his wheelchair.
  • 1986 a West-Berlin Dance Club was blown up (coincidentally the dance club was visited often by US Service Men) – two U.S. Servicemen were killed and over 50 severely wounded.
  • 1988 Pan Am Flight 103 hijacked and over 200 people were slaughtered.
  • 1993 — The first WTC bombing.
  • 1995 — A Car bomb in Saudi Arabia blew up killing five Americans.
  • 1996 – 23 U.S. Servicemen were killed in a bomb set in an Air Force Housing Complex.
  • 1997 — Another car bomb.
  • 1998 — The Embassy in Kenya was blown up. (Multiple deaths)
  • 1998 — The Embassy in Tanzania was blown up. (Multiple deaths)
  • 2000 — USS Cole blown up (Multiple Deaths)
  • and the grand finale, 9/11!

Since then of course, there haven’t been any massive attacks on the U.S. or its interests.  I guess those “neocon” scare tactics are paying off somewhat.

Tell me, was it neocon scare tactics that caused the destruction committed in 20 years mentioned above?

The truth is out there staring us in the face.  We never needed a 9/11 commission and we certainly don’t need someone as misguided as Ron Paul.

Finally, Michelle Malkin points out that Ron Paul has visited Alex Jones on a couple of occasions.  Do you know who Alex Jones is?

Man, I guess Paul will get support wherever he can.

More from Malkin’s article where she actually quoted “Scholars for 9/11 Truth”

In regards to Rep. Ron Paul, he states twice in the Student Scholars video that he believes that the first 9/11 investigation was one in which there many “cover-ups.” Paul also claimed he “never automatically believes anything the government does when they do an investigation.” Additionally, he has been on the Alex Jones show several times. Ron Paul knows very well that something is very wrong with the official explanation of 9/1l. However, like Dennis Kucinich he cannot look right into our cameras and proclaim “9/11 WAS A SELF INFLICTED WOUND!” Through acknowledging the legitimacy of the 9/11 Truth Movement’s concerns, these candidates are expressing their support for our cause.”

Be sure to respond and remind me again how this is all just an evil plan of neocon war-mongers.  Moreover; make the claim that it is the fault of the United States for all terror attacks in the last 20 years.

The Ron Paul Madness

How much longer will we have to endure libertarians’ (liberals disguised as Republicans) endorsement of Ron Paul?  Just how much history are they aware of?

An article today was misleadingly titled: Paul Tops List of GOP CandidatesUnforunately, that is not where the absurdity ends.

The author links Ronald Reagan to Barry Goldwater of all people while simutaneously giving us  a rundown of true Republican values.  We know what those values are:

  • National Security (#1 these days)
  • Life
  • Low Taxes
  • Small government

Barry Goldwater was not in any way like Ronald Reagan when it came to the social issues.  Barry Goldwater lost in the biggest defeat ever of a Republican candidate and Reagan won in two historic landslides.

We have endless carping about the interference of our civil liberties with Bush’s magnificient anti-terrorism measures set forth since 9/11.  These “big government” decisions that some are complaining about happened to have saved thousands of lives.  It stopped the Brooklyn Bridge from being blown up, plans to bomb the Sears Tower, the passengers headed to England on a flight destined for 9/11esque destruction, and finally the JFK terror plot.

Conservatives (the real ones) have tried explaining over and over again to liberals and libertarians that the mistakes of the Carter administration in dealing with the Shah of Iran and embracing the new government led by Islamic fanatics began most of the issues happening in the world today.

We have a guy here who wants to be our Commander-in-Chief and also wants to pull all military out of Iraq and leave it to terrorists.  He does not see the value of deposing a brutal dictator like Saddam Hussein nor does he acknowledge the fact that when you have a madman like Saddam making purposed bluffs to the U.N. about WMD after 9/11, you don’t ignore it!  Especially after we went in and put a stop to rape rooms and torture chambers that were in daily operation.  And nevermind the fact that Saddam harbored and funded terrorists as well.

Such individuals living in this kind of denial are called liberals.  Not people who live by “true Republican standards.”  How about the Republican standard of realism?

We also have a man who could blame a tragedy like 9/11 on our own Government (thus explaining the support gained from whacky conspiracy theorists).  Has he paid attention to the endless terrorist attacks on our interests for the past 20 years?  Do the conspiracy theorists have explanations for those, too?

People like Ron Paul and folks who support him are dangerous to our humanity.  They want us to remove anti-terrorism measures proven to be effective right here in our homeland, they want us to run out of Iraq like “paper tigers” (as declared by OBL after Clinton ripped our troops out of Somalia), and serve as Al-Qaeda’s head-cheerleaders.

I’m sorry, Republicans aren’t that stupid to run away and stick our necks in the sand praying that somehow, some way, our enemies will like us more and will never attempt to hurt us again if Ron Paul becomes President.

Ron Paul hardly “tops” Romney, Giuliani, or Thompson in the various polls available to us.  (click here to see how things are looking)

Once the Iowa Caucus is done and over, we can finally see an end to this madness.

A Must-Watch From a Friendly YouTuber

It’s 2 minutes long.  You will love it.  It’s all in the ending but well worth the wait!

Mondale: Still Sore From ’84?

mondale.jpg

Former Vice-President, Walter Mondale wrote a column in today’s Washington Post in which he exudes fond memories of Carter’s move to “make the most of” the “underused asset” known as the office of Vice-President.

In a book-report that focuses on our current Vice-President; Dick Cheney, Mondale remembers the days of the Carter administration with fondness.

“I remain enormously proud of what we did in those four years, especially that we told the truth, obeyed the law and kept the peace.”

That’s a pretty strong statement for the Vice-President of an administration that allowed Islamic fanatics to overthrow the Shah of Iran.  Did the Carter administration fight back like Reagan or Bush or Cheney would have?  I seem to remember an embrace of the new Iranian government by the United States (led by Jimmy Carter and Walter Mondale).  After that diplomatic and peace-loving decision was executed, Carter couldn’t even retain the backbone to cut off all ties to the Shah when he let him back into our country to get treatment for the Carter/Mondale- knife he had in his back cancer at the Mayo Clinic in 1979, which of course led to the hostage crisis in Tehran that lasted 444 days.

Apparently, Carter and Mondale were such “peace” activists, they still couldn’t figure out which team they were batting for.

Carter then decided it was time to toughen things up a bit by executing Operation Eagle Claw on April 24, 1980.  In this attempt to end the crisis that Carter was initially responsible for, five USAF Airmen and three U.S. Marines were tragically killed.

This was the first major Jihadist-association-happening in U.S. history that demonstrated the left’s “be nice to our enemies” plan by exercising the kind of “diplomacy” that Barack Obama is campaigning on now.

Mondale continues his fond recollections of his special relationship with Carter.

“Every Monday the two of us met privately for lunch; we could, and did, talk candidly about virtually anything.”

Apparently, devising clever military strategies was not part of their happy-meal repartee.  Come to think of it, clever economic and unemployment strategies were not part of it either.

To their credit, they did manage to drum up a nomination and confirmation of Judge Anna Diggs Taylor (a left-winger), who last year struck down Bush’s NSA Spying program (with the help of the ACLU).  Thankfully, just a few short weeks ago, her enemy-helping ruling was overturned.

It is apparent to me that whenever any liberal talks about “peace” or “law”, it’s just a shifty way of advocating the far stretches of both desired elements.  Every decision made during their administration along with current decisions made by their judicial appointees boil down to one ideal: help the enemies escape, be nice to them, and hope they don’t hit us while our necks are buried in the sand.

Mondale might want to think back to 1984 when he decided to run against Reagan and lost in 49 out of the 50 states in this country.  The only state he managed to pick up was his own of Minnesota; where even there, he only won by 3,200 votes.  America remembered the backlash of thoughtless and irresponsible “be nice” policies of Democratic politicians.  Either Mondale (along with left-wing blogs, front-running Democratic-Presidential candidates, and all of the mainstream media) is suffering from major political amnesia or he really does wish for the destruction of America.

What more proof do we need than the facts of Democratic policies along with Mondale’s charge of criminality against the current Vice-President?

“It was Cheney who persuaded President Bush to sign an order that denied access to any court by foreign terrorism suspects and Cheney who determined that the Geneva Conventions did not apply to enemy combatants captured in Afghanistan and Iraq.”

To begin with, it is not only Dick Cheney that understands the fact that terrorists are not uniformed combatants represented by a formal military.  Moreover; if Carter and Mondale would have decided to take our enemies seriously back when they were showing the warning signs, it would have never progressed to the level that is has to today.

Forgive Bush and Cheney; sir, for attempting the clean up the mess that you and Carter made 28 years ago.

Insert Witty “Butt” Headline Here

Go ahead and add this story as another chapter in this nation’s often-absurd Book of Socio-Political Correctness (I think I just invented a new term).  Apparently two hardened seventh-grade criminals were sexually assaulting classmates.  Steyn describes the atrocities committed by Cory Mashburn and Ryan Cornelison -

Messrs Mashburn and Cornelison are pupils at Patton Middle School. They were arrested in February after being observed in the vestibule, swatting girls on the butt. Butt-swatting had apparently become a form of greeting at the school – like “a handshake we do,” as one female student put it. On “Slap Butt Fridays,” boys and girls would hail each other with a cheery application of manual friction to the posterior, akin to a Masonic greeting.

This “crime” committed by the boys originally drew charges of felony sexual assault.  Although the charges were later downgraded to misdemeanors, the DA is still advocating that the boys be required to register as sex-offenders, a move that would haunt Cornelison and Mashburn for the rest of their lives.  The DA, Bradley Berry, even suggested that the “assault” committed by the boys was serious and that such “cases are devastating to children.”  I love Steyn’s response -

No, sir. The only one devastating children’s lives is you. If you “win,” and these “criminals” are convicted, 20, 30 years from now – applying for a job, volunteering for a community program, heading north for a weekend in Vancouver and watching the Customs guard swipe the driver’s license through the computer – there’ll be a blip, something will come up on the screen, and for the umpteenth time two middle-age men will realize they bear a mark that can never be expunged. Because decades ago they patted their pals on the rear in a middle-school corridor.

Clearly, this case is a reach.  Students at the school (even some of the victims) almost universally describe schoolhouse hijinx that comes nowhere close to the status of a “sexual assault.”  I am a law-and-order guy, but as more and more DAs and government prosecuters buy into the PC garbage of the left, we are left with trials and decisions that cross over into the realm of absurdity.  In turn, we are left with more and more folks who will be forever scarred by some overreaching DA.

Maybe we can co-star Mike Nifong and Bradley Berry in a new flick.  “D.A.s Gone Wild” comes to mind.

This is War, Tammy Bruce

dunkiniced.jpg

Dunkin vs. Starbucks

I was catching up on some of my favorite blogs this morning (kind of like my Sunday Morning review) and found Tammy’s post on Starbucks.

I’ll admit, when I was a city boy I would pay big bucks for a cup of coffee from Starbucks or Caribou (another famous coffee-trend here in the Midwest).

But since coming back to the country, my heart belongs to Dunkin.  As I type, I am enjoying the most heavenly coffee drink known to man, the delicious “large” iced-coffee” with cream and two sweet-n-lows.

$2.60!  At Dunkin, you get so much more for your money.

Mark Segal: The True “Self-Loather”

It’s no surprise to me that activist types and those out there who make being gay 99% of what makes them up as a human beings will avoid having to come up with logical debate techniques other than “you’re stupid” or “you’re a Nazi” to make their point.  After all, these are liberal-gay men we’re talking about here.  But you would think that the ones crying the hardest for gay rights would avoid using “you’re gay” as an insult.

In this hilarious piece of journalism, Mark Segal of Philadelphia Gay News decided to pen a column citing anonymous sources that declare Ann Coulter as being a lesbian.  Okay, fine.  So, we are declaring that Ann Coulter might be gay, do you have a follow-up point?

Apparently not.  Unless of course talking about the use of sex toys can be considered a legitimate political argument that is going to strengthen the path to gay rights in this country.

This is one of those activist-types that I warn the gay community about.  They begin their articles with a flaming title “Mark My Words”  (probably with a hand on his hip and following up with “gurrrrlfriend”) and immediately begin the attack by labeling their subject (Ann Coulter) as someone who is homophobic.

He then mentions Coulter’s “support” of Mary Cheney’s baby, only to further it with more insults:

“Ms. Coulter’s support of Mary Cheney’s new baby should not be confused with the idea that she wishes to become just another pregnant lesbian herself. She rejected that path after numerous attempts with the turkey-baster method. And like the vice president’s daughter, she does not believe in the new domestic-partners legislation legalizing lesbian marriages, and therefore does not wish to give birth to a bastard — many of course would say like the child’s mother.”

To begin with, Mary Cheney is an advocate for gay rights, as she has mentioned over and over again.  But see, to insane liberal-activists like Mark Segal, casting your vote while keeping in mind that there are other issues out there to be dealt with such as terrorism is a completely self-loathing and homophobic thing to do.

I only wonder why he didn’t attack Tammy Bruce in this column?  We know that she is gay, supports the President’s war policies, owns a gun, and simutaneously supports progressive rights.  At least he would have had a solid start.

If Ann Coulter is straight, I know that she doesn’t hate me.  If Ann Coulter is gay, I welcome her to the land of gay conservatives that recognize the true damage that idiot activist types like this are doing to our community.

Word To Your Mullah!

I’m constantly amazed at the international community’s tolerance of Iran.  I’ve always said that, in retrospect, we should have ignored Sadaam and gone after the nutjobs in Persia.  Nevertheless, we are stuck with a theocracy and an insane madman, Ahmadinejad, who threaten to destabilize the Middle East and place nuclear weapons into the hands of terrorists.  So what do we do?

 ENGAGE THEM! (of course)

Taking a page from the Madeline Albright and Bill Richardson book of “How To Appease Dictators To Make Friends,” the Bush administration has decided to engage Iran despite Iranian obstinance on important matters, its obvious sponsorship of terrorists, and its refusal to give up the pursuit of nuclear weapons.  If you don’t understand the threat posed by the mullahs, I would simply refer you to this piece by Caroline Glick, a Jerusalem Post commentator.

Russia, France and China consistently coddle this dictatorship, buying them the precious time they need to complete their pursuit of nuclear weapons.  Israel, who has been threatened with extermination by Iran, and the US should be actively working to stifle the threat.  This is not to mention Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Egypt – all Sunni nations who are inherently threatened by Iranian hegemony.  Nevertheless – everyone seems to be covering for Iran.

Pressure on the US from Europe and the Democrats has led the Bush administration to engage in pointless talks with Iran.  The spineless government of Israeli PM, Ehud Olmert, has backed down and sought to entertain discussion with Iran’s puppet state – Syria.  The Middle East “moderates” have taken a stance of appeasing Iran in the naive hope that they can limit Iran’s threat to supporting insurgencies in Afghanistan and Iraq (they’re next – trust me). Europe and China?  Don’t make me laugh.

I don’t know the answer to solve the Iran problem, but I do know this -

  1. The US should not be engaging in talks with the #1 terrorist sponsor on the planet.  We have never dealt with terrorists in the past.  Why start now?
  2. Israel needs to elect Benjamin Netanyahu and his Likud party so that the nation of Israel will have a chance.
  3. Businesses in the US must refrain from any investments in any companies that have anything to do with Iran.
  4. Someone needs to splash some cold water on Saudi Arabia et al and make them realize that Shi’ite Iran will kick their Sunni butts in a New York second if given the opportunity.

Don’t look for Iran to change simply because the international community chooses to engage them or because Olmert chooses to ignore them.  The mullahs only understand one language – resolve.  Just as Iran is resolved to develop nuclear weapons and finance terrorist activites, the international community should be equally resolved to stop the #1 threat on the globe today.  Until that time, Iran will continue their activities and look to buy themselves time and cover for their dangerous pursuits in any deceptive manner possible.

UpdateHow’s that for timely?  Check this out.

Barack Obama: The Great Communicator?

clintonobama.jpg(Courtesy of CaliforniaConservative.org)

Calm down Ronald Reagan lovers.  It’s just a joke.

I’ve been watching the spar between Obama and Clinton in the last week as the only thing Barack seems to be going on is how he didn’t vote for going into Iraq (while simutaneously avoiding mentioning the fact that he wasn’t even there).

Now suddenly, Barack wants to encourage diplomacy with leaders that clearly hate the United States and some of our most prominent allies like Israel.

Speaking of communicating, let’s see how Reagan handled a couple of his moments of communication:

1.) Reagan communicated brilliantly with the Soviet Union while putting massive pressure on them economically and brought an end to the Cold War — something that liberals like to give Gorbachev credit for as admitting success on behalf of an American-Conservative President like Ronald Reagan is totally unacceptable.  (no wonder liberals love communism.)

2.) The great communicator, Ronald Reagan, did his best to establish diplomacy in Lebanon in 1982 by establishing a peace-keeping force between Muslims and Christians.  The Muslim side hated America from the get go and even though Democratic members of Congress were begging for more “diplomacy” from President Reagan, the loving Muslims still hated America and blew up our embassies in Beirut as well as our marine barracks within the span of about a year.  This was certainly one act of diplomacy that did not work even though Reagan gave it his best shot.

Moreover; President Bill Clinton in 1994 tried diplomacy with North Korea by sending Madeline Albright with a basketball signed by Michael Jordan and a sweet deal that gave the North Koreans billions of dollars, reactors, and the capability to build more nukes in exchange for a promise that North Korea wasn’t going to build any, Clinton even sweetened the deal further by agreeing to not let weapons inspectors in for five years afterwards.  That worked out great!

I am wondering why Americans are so surprised that a Democratic Presidential candidate is talking about diplomacy as a way of dealing with our enemies.  This is news?  The better questions should be: “What will Barack give to the North Koreans?”  “What will he give to Iran?”

Finally, the Bush administration and Condoleezza Rice have not closed their doors to diplomacy.  They have countless sanctions, have applied political and economical pressure to our enemies and where has it gotten them?

This is what I think Fred Thompson or Giuliani need to run on — the Democrats’ harp about diplomacy and the factual cases of utter failure from the same party in the past.
