Word To Your Mullah!

I’m constantly amazed at the international community’s tolerance of Iran.  I’ve always said that, in retrospect, we should have ignored Sadaam and gone after the nutjobs in Persia.  Nevertheless, we are stuck with a theocracy and an insane madman, Ahmadinejad, who threaten to destabilize the Middle East and place nuclear weapons into the hands of terrorists.  So what do we do?

 ENGAGE THEM! (of course)

Taking a page from the Madeline Albright and Bill Richardson book of “How To Appease Dictators To Make Friends,” the Bush administration has decided to engage Iran despite Iranian obstinance on important matters, its obvious sponsorship of terrorists, and its refusal to give up the pursuit of nuclear weapons.  If you don’t understand the threat posed by the mullahs, I would simply refer you to this piece by Caroline Glick, a Jerusalem Post commentator.

Russia, France and China consistently coddle this dictatorship, buying them the precious time they need to complete their pursuit of nuclear weapons.  Israel, who has been threatened with extermination by Iran, and the US should be actively working to stifle the threat.  This is not to mention Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Egypt – all Sunni nations who are inherently threatened by Iranian hegemony.  Nevertheless – everyone seems to be covering for Iran.

Pressure on the US from Europe and the Democrats has led the Bush administration to engage in pointless talks with Iran.  The spineless government of Israeli PM, Ehud Olmert, has backed down and sought to entertain discussion with Iran’s puppet state – Syria.  The Middle East “moderates” have taken a stance of appeasing Iran in the naive hope that they can limit Iran’s threat to supporting insurgencies in Afghanistan and Iraq (they’re next – trust me). Europe and China?  Don’t make me laugh.

I don’t know the answer to solve the Iran problem, but I do know this -

  1. The US should not be engaging in talks with the #1 terrorist sponsor on the planet.  We have never dealt with terrorists in the past.  Why start now?
  2. Israel needs to elect Benjamin Netanyahu and his Likud party so that the nation of Israel will have a chance.
  3. Businesses in the US must refrain from any investments in any companies that have anything to do with Iran.
  4. Someone needs to splash some cold water on Saudi Arabia et al and make them realize that Shi’ite Iran will kick their Sunni butts in a New York second if given the opportunity.

Don’t look for Iran to change simply because the international community chooses to engage them or because Olmert chooses to ignore them.  The mullahs only understand one language – resolve.  Just as Iran is resolved to develop nuclear weapons and finance terrorist activites, the international community should be equally resolved to stop the #1 threat on the globe today.  Until that time, Iran will continue their activities and look to buy themselves time and cover for their dangerous pursuits in any deceptive manner possible.

  1. daredevil92103,

wait a minute, i thought we were the biggest terrorist sponsors in the world. we’ve sponsored plenty in our time. and israel? israel has all kind of nukes, and has broken virtually every rule in the book. now we were the ones that put the shah of iran in power back in the day, just like we trained muslim extremists to fight the soviet union, and we backed saddam, and we backed hmm. the contras, we overthrew chile’s government because some fruit or vegetable importer/exportet big-shot thought he would lose some land. we backed pol pot, we have attacked people in our own country, (COINTELPRO), we decimated the native americans, we invaded iraq for no reason, and the depleted uranium shells we use are causing plenty of cancer and other crazy things, both to our troops and to the iraqi population. we started eugenics, which is what nazi germany ended up using, we have conducted experiments on our own people without their consent, such as testing biological weapons, we hired nazi doctors, we’re making a killing off poppies in afghanistan, and many more things. now, i’m not fond of iran, but who have they attacked?

  2. daredevil92103,

oh, yeah. we had slavery, too.

  3. redstategay,

Who have they attacked? Try Israel (via Hezbollah). Or maybe America (with their folks in Iraq). Ever wonder where those IEDs come from that kill Americans in Iraq nearly everyday? Ever wonder where those rockets come from that fall on Israeli territory?

I think we have a problem. Reciting a litany of perceived failures on behalf of the US in the past or comparing the US to Nazi Germany does not change the present circumstances. The Iranians are killing Americans and represent a growing threat with their pursuit of nuclear arms. Failure to stop them will be catastrophic.

  4. Steve,

“wait a minute, i thought we were the biggest terrorist sponsors in the world.”

Come on Dare Devil. Are we going back to the old canard of “we funded Saddam.”

By the way, that is another act of diplomacy that failed and should be documented.

We deemed Saddam an ally to protect themselves and us from Iran. That ally became a serious enemy and the alliance then switched.

We have never funded with the intention of our blessings for terrorist acts anywhere.

  5. daredevil92103,

    what about nicaraugua? and guatamala?
    we did then.
but i see what you are saying about iran. in fact, we will attack them next. BUT not before another terrorist attack so we can use nukes on them. Israel is going to attack them with or without us. that’s just my opinion, but i strongly believe this is coming sooner than later.

  6. There was nothing wrong with aiding the Contras over the Sandinistas.

Israel usually defers to the US on any major action. I believe that any attack on Iran’s nuke facilities will be a coordinated effort. But if a Dem is in the White House, Israel may very well have to go it alone. That’s a scary scenario though.

  7. Can we use a nuke over there? Can we? Pretty please? It’d clean up a whole lotta things right quick! I’m so tired of us pussy-footing around in this war and surgically removing this that and the other thing. Let’s just get it over with, already. Give them a blow that they’ll understand and that will begin to really break their will. Right now I think it’s just a game of cat and mouse to them.
