Month August 2007

Lauer’s Early-Morning Bias (Is There Any Wonder Liberals Cry About Fox?)

What an excellent interview!  Not only does Matt Lauer learn the hard way what happens when you piss off a Texan, but he continues to make the point of his guests over and over again.

Morning TV is biased for the left.  We know that.  The best interviews come from the Today Show of course when Matt Lauer attempts to exchange serious repartee with a great politician (who still hasn’t been convicted of anything — for my site-partner and for some of my Texan readers like Jennifer, I’d be pretty pissed at the fact that Ronnie Earle has squandered this kind of taxpayer money on a pointless case like this) like Tom Delay.

Also, let’s not forget the CLASSIC catfight between Ann Coulter and Katie Couric in 2002 when Couric did everything she could from leaping out of her chair as Coulter continued to point out the obvious bias of the Today Show.

Here, Lauer begins his interview by rattling off Republican scandals.  Tom Delay then “politely” reminds him of the some of the scandals existing on the Democrat side of the fence such as:

–William Jefferson

–Gerry Studds

–Barney Frank

And then I would like to name a few more:

–Bill Clinton

–Teddy Kennedy

–the rest of the Kennedys

I think you get the point.  So okay the Republicans had Foley, we had Libby, Abramoff, and now of course Larry Craig.  Different crimes, different degrees.  What happens to them?  They resign!

Can anyone name one Democrat above that has not been re-elected time and time again by their base?  Can anyone name one Democrat above obsessed about by the Today Show?

If Democrats and Republicans could get together and at least agree that rotten behavior is rotten and should not be tolerated within Congress or the Executive Branch, we could move on so much faster.

Republicans have always been and always will be the party of values and responsible behavior.  Matt Lauer tries to persuade viewers to believe otherwise in his opening statement.

There will always be scandals.  But there will always be one party — AND ONE PARTY ONLY — that deals with them.  Let’s face it, we will always have fun with one another.  But one thing the Democrats can never say is that they would not disassociate themselves with a corrupt politician.  Just look at who their headlining candidate is for 2008!

Regardless what the whining Dems continue to blather on about, Fox News always allows both sides to be heard.  Just recently, O’Reilly and Chris Dodd had an explosive debate about the Daily Kos.  Hannity and Colmes exemplifies this over and over again as well.

Unlike MSNBC or any of the networks, right-winged retort is allowed and embraced on Fox just as it is on the internet and talk radio.

Liberals are so used to Lauer and other network liberals like Dan Rather “reporting” the news that a full Republican response to them makes the entire program tainted.

Hats off to Tom Delay and others like Ann Coulter that step onto the Today Show and remind liberals (even if it’s just for a few minutes) why Fox News is the most watched network by liberals still trying muster up a coherent response.

Can We Get THIS Bozo To Step Down, Too?

miker.jpg

I have never given this guy much serious thought.  But it is worth noting that it’s this bitter (if ya don’t believe me, get a look at him!) queen who originally worked to “out” Larry Craig a year ago.

Getting a look at his blog, the man I think can officially qualify as a stalker.  He has worked feverishly to “out” politicians for the last few years.  His basis on individuals being gay politicians to spotlight more alleged hypocrisy is the fact that they “might” be gay and that they vote against gay marriage.

If I were him, I’d head over to Oregon and California where the actual blue-state voters are voting against gay marriage in actual acts of Democracy.  I’d be willing to bet that some of them might be gay, too.

Extremists like this are exactly the reason people don’t take us seriously (well, that and shows like Queer as Folk).  They lack objectivity and the wit to debate issues under legality and constitutionality and use cheap tactics like this to distract from having to actually think.

This is how Americans see the gay community folks – this and our annual gay pride parades where men parade up and down the streets in chaps.

They are directly responsible for amplifying the segregation factor that plagues most of us everyday.  More members of the gay community need to speak out and alert people of the fact that they are NOT speaking for us.

I Love the Double Standard, Sean!

Isn’t it fun watching Democrats be utter hypocrites while they blame Republicans for being hypocrites?

Let’s look at the objective evidence:

–The reason Tom Delay stepped down after Ronnie Earle empanelled his sixth jury to win an indictment was mainly because of a Republican-endorsed rule that force politicians to step down once they were indicted for anything (no matter how many years it takes to move toward a conviction.)  Theoretically if Delay was a Democrat and the Republicans never established that rule, Delay would have not resigned and would have been re-elected.

–Even though Democrats ambushed Scooter Libby, we pretty much refrained from whining once he resigned.

–When Mark Foley was caught sending sexual instant messages to minors, we were more than happy to see him step down!

–Every prominent Republican out there now is asking for Larry Craig to step down.

This newshounds website is at it again!  They are angry at Dennis Prager’s quote on Hannity & Colmes because he said that Larry Craig was a “sinner” and not a “hypocrite.”

I agree that Craig would be a hypocrite if he is guilty on the grounds of his “family values” stance.  However; Democrats are blathering about his stance on gay marriage as if this is grounds for hypocrisy.  I hate to break it to them but it is possible for someone to be gay and oppose gay marriage.

Bob Beckel sweetened the deal on behalf of the Democrats by stating that it wouldn’t be so bad if Craig did not campaign on “family values.”

This is sadly the true position of the Democrats and my hat is off to Bob Beckel for at least being honest about it.  Democrats accept this kind of behavior and endorse it.

–They still think Clinton is a hero after he (The President) had “sexual relations” with a white house intern.

–The re-elected Gerry Studds over and over again after he had a sexual relationship with a 17-year old male page.

Not only is this behavior acceptable to Democrats, it is endorsed and celebrated.

The allegations do not change here regarding this specific incident.

The hypocrisy (the true hypocrisy) does change.

If it were a Republican, Republicans would demand a resignation and Democrats would allege “hypocrisy.”

It it were a Democrat, Republicans would demand a resignation and Democrats would re-elect them.

Yup, there’s hypocrisy alright!

So, when Sean Hannity says to Dennis Prager:

“Does that double standard bother you as much as me?”

My answer is: ABSOLUTELY NOT.  It’s one gift the Democrats give us that I love more than anything else.  Republicans have a reason to be embarrassed.  Democrats on the other hand would have another reason to say “It’s just about sex!”

Oh Dear God!

I detest doing back-to-back blogs on the same issue.  I really try to mix it up.  I even try to edit previous blogs with updates, but this post-script deserves a blog of its own.  Remember the Hillary donor, Norman Hsu?  You know, I mentioned him in the previous blog.  The New York Times tells us a little more about this guy.  Here are some excerpts:

But what was not widely known was that Mr. Hsu, who is in the apparel business in New York, has been considered a fugitive since he failed to show up in a San Mateo County courtroom about 15 years ago to be sentenced for his role in a scheme to defraud investors, according to the California attorney general’s office.

Mr. Hsu had pleaded no contest to one count of grand theft and was facing up to three years in prison.

Not the kind of guy you want as a major fundraiser for your campaign, right?

The donor, Norman Hsu, has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for Democratic candidates since 2003, and was slated to be co-host next month for a Clinton gala featuring the entertainer Quincy Jones.

The event would not have been unusual for Mr. Hsu, a businessman from Hong Kong who moves in circles of power and influence, serving on the board of a university in New York and helping to bankroll Democratic campaigns.

WHOA!

Guess what?  Hsu helped other Dems too.  And now they are stepping all over themselves to rid their campaign coffers of those funds and disavow any relationship to this crook.

Last month, Mr. Hsu was among the honored guests at a fund-raiser for Representative Patrick J. Kennedy, Democrat of Rhode Island, given by Stephen A. Schwarzman of the Blackstone Group at the New York Yacht Club.

Al Franken, a Democratic Senate candidate in Minnesota, said he would divest his campaign of Mr. Hsu’s donations, as did Representatives Michael M. Honda and Doris O. Matsui of California and Representative Joe Sestak of Pennsylvania, all Democrats.

This just keeps getting more interesting.  I’m sure this won’t be the last we hear of this.  I’ll just watch with glee as the Democrats twitch uncomfortably and look for an out.  It’s 1996 all over again.  In the midst of a media cycle that has left frowns on a lot of Republican faces, this one is truly a gem.

The Left’s Funny Money

One of the things that many conservatives hold against Arizona Senator John McCain is his support and sponsorship of the campaign finance legislation that bears his name.  To his credit, McCain, apparently has worked within the confines of his own legislation and kept his nose clean.  This is especially important to him since he was a member of the notorious “Keating Five” involved in the Savings and Loan Scandal back in the late ’80s.  Maybe McCain-Feingold was a personal crusade that McCain sought in order to vindicate himself and make reparations – regardless of how misguided this act has been.

And while some GOP-leaning groups and Republican candidates/politicians have run afoul of campaign finance laws over the past few election cycles, it seems that the Democrats and their patron support groups on the Left have been the ones to make a true mockery of the legislation in recent years.  And what do we call that kids?  Hypocrisy – say it with me now.

There are two great examples recently to illustrate this point.  The first involves Hillary.  And while this is a doozy, the MSM and the relentless Clinton machine will make sure that none of this comes back on her.  The story involves a guy named Norman Hsu.  Nobody knows the extent of this fraud yet, but it all starts with a middle class California family who suddenly became some of Clinton’s biggest donors.  The Wall Street Journal details the events.

Six members of the Paw family, each listing the house at 41 Shelbourne Ave. as their residence, have donated a combined $45,000 to the Democratic senator from New York since 2005, for her presidential campaign, her Senate re-election last year and her political action committee. In all, the six Paws have donated a total of $200,000 to Democratic candidates since 2005, election records show.

Ok, no problem so far, right?  Well….not exactly.

It isn’t obvious how the Paw family is able to afford such political largess. Records show they own a gift shop and live in a 1,280-square-foot house that they recently refinanced for $270,000. William Paw, the 64-year-old head of the household, is a mail carrier with the U.S. Postal Service who earns about $49,000 a year, according to a union representative. Alice Paw, also 64, is a homemaker. The couple’s grown children have jobs ranging from account manager at a software company to “attendance liaison” at a local public high school. One is listed on campaign records as an executive at a mutual fund.

Ouch!  Anyone smell a rat?  While Hsu’s ties to the family are not extremely clear yet, he once listed his address at the family’s residence.  A mega-Dem fundraiser living in this tiny home.  Doesn’t pass the smell test.

Obviously, the Hillary folks have denied this one was linked to the candidate, but it certainly raises some eyebrows when you consider the Chinese Lobbying Group that scandalously funneled money to Bill’s presidential campaign back in the 90s. Or maybe the Al Gore trip to the Buddhist temple which was connected to the same shady players.

But, this scandal aside, also consider that George Soros’ former leftist 527 group, America Coming Together (ACT) was just hit with a $775,000 fine by the FEC for campaign finance violations in the 2004 election.  Naturally the group settled with the FEC without admitting to many of the charges, but you don’t get fined $775,000 for simple mistakes.

The Federal Election Commission has fined one of the last cycle’s biggest liberal political action committees $775,000 for using unregulated soft money to boost John Kerry and other Democratic candidates during the 2004 elections.

America Coming Together (ACT) raised $137 million for its get-out-the-vote effort in 2004, but the FEC found most of that cash came through contributions that violated federal limits.

MOST of $137 million is a whole lot of green.  Think about the impact of that amount of money.  That could easily tilt a campaign.  Fortunately for the GOP, ACT’s main benefactor was John Kerry.  Even that amount of money wasn’t going to help him with his issues.

I’m not saying that GOP groups and candidates are clean here.  When it all comes down to it, money is a corrupting force in politics for many.  But the hypocrisy here is that McCain-Feingold was made possible primarily by the hordes of Democrat senators and representatives who were tired of being out of power since 1994.  They sought to level the playing field at a time when Republican groups were outraising them by massive amounts.

Now that the field is more level due to increases in Dem donors and the left’s mastery of the shady 527 groups, they seem to have little regard for the legislation that they piously advance only a few years ago.  If that’s the case, then I would urge them to consider the repeal of McCain-Feingold.  Let’s see how many Dem takers we have on that one.

Craig Has to Go and Democrats Need to Spare Me

craig.jpg

Here we go again!  Now Larry Craig’s arrogance has brought more damage to the Republican party and has shamed us inexcusably.

Not one Republican is defending him and we are all happy to say “adios!” but issue avoiding Democrats like Hannah August are already using this as “another reason” to vote for them in 2008.  Let’s take a look at the other ones:

–They continue to vote to support a war they claim to hate

–They spent millions of taxpayer money to get Alberto Gonzales to resign!

–They have an approval rating that sits at half of the President’s (you know the other one they keep reminding us of).

Well, Larry Craig caught spanking it in an airport bathroom is better than the reasons listed above.

What cracks me up is the police report filed:

“Craig would look down at his hands, ‘fidget’ with his fingers, and then look through the crack in my stall again.  Craig would repeat this cycle for about two minutes.  I was able to see Craig’s blue eyes as he looked into my stall.”

Is this a police report, or a homoerotic journal entry?

In the end, this makes Republicans look bad, Craig is an arrogant man who needs to resign, and Democrats and their base will continue to vote against gays and gay rights.

Sometimes You Feel Like a Nut…

ahmadinejadiq9.jpg

And sometimes you are.  The President of the Islamic Theocracy of Iran, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, is certifiable…..to the core!  Everytime this dude opens his piehole, it’s 1000 blogs.  I don’t get this guy at all.  Consider his remarks as reported in an AP article (posted to MSNBC.com).

“The political power of the occupiers is collapsing rapidly,” Ahmadinejad said at a news conference in Tehran, referring to U.S. troops in Iraq. “Soon, we will see a huge power vacuum in the region. Of course, we are prepared to fill the gap, with the help of neighbors and regional friends like Saudi Arabia, and with the help of the Iraqi nation.”

Ok.  Take a minute.  Stop laughing.  This doof thinks Iran can fill “a huge power vacuum?”  These terrorists have done everything in their power to destabilize Iraq.  Their version of filling a vacuum would be marching the Republican Guard into Baghdad and proclaiming an Islamic state.  Or how about calling Saudi Arabia a “friend?”  Mahmoud, buddy, the Saudis are NOT your friends.  The Saudis are prepared to go ballistic on your ass in the event that the US leaves Iraq anytime soon.  Ever heard of the Shi’ite/Sunni thing?  Do you know the meaning of the word “hegemony?”  You guys are pushing the envelope, and folks in Saudia Arabia, Jordan and Egypt have taken notice.

Or how about this for delusional?

Ahmadinejad dismissed the possibility of any U.S. military action against Iran.

“I tell you resolutely that there is no possibility, whatsoever, of such a decision in the U.S.,” Ahmadinejad told reporters. “Even, if they were to decide to do so, they would be unable to carry it out.”

France, historically one of Iran’s biggest apologists, has even talked about bombing the Iranians.  Hey Ahmadinjerk – think we won’t bomb you?  Better hope that Dennis Kucinich is elected president in 2008.  This guy just doesn’t get it.  Then, in a pot-calling-the kettle-black moment:

Ahmadinejad said Bush was a “wicked, selfish and arrogant” leader who has abused the Security Council in a push to stop Iran’s nuclear program.

“You saw that your coercion … was futile,” Ahmadinejad said, addressing Bush. “You sold out your prestige and stood against a cultured nation. … I recommend that you don’t repeat this ugly behavior.”

Who is the wicked one?  And what cultured nation are we talking about here?  That might fly at the Democrat National Convention, but reality has its limits, and Ahmadinejad is on the outer limits of reality.

I’ve always proclaimed that Iran is a major threat.  Not because of this nutbag, but because of the mullahs behind the scenes.  I need to qualify that however.  If the mullahs are allowing this guy to run his mouth on behalf of Iran, then they have only one more brain cell than him.  In that case, maybe my worries about Iran are truly unfounded.

France Coming Around

So who are these people?  Every conservative loves poking fun at the cowardly, dismal French, but new French President, Nicolas Sarkozy seems to have turned around French foreign policy.  France no longer seems dedicated to a foreign policy built around antagonizing the US – they are actually starting to appear constructive.  Two items stuck out today.

First, Mssr. Sarkozy gave a major foreign policy speech in which he labeled a nuclear Iran as unacceptable.  He even held out the possibility that Western nations must be prepared to act militarily against Iran if the mullahs don’t abandon their pursuit of nukes.

French President Nicolas Sarkozy said on Monday a diplomatic push by the world’s powers to rein in Tehran’s nuclear program was the only alternative to “an Iranian bomb or the bombing of Iran.”

But Sarkozy didn’t stop there.  He went further by slamming Russia’s resurgent imperialism.

Sarkozy criticized Russia for its dealings on the international stage. “Russia is imposing its return on the world scene by using its assets, notably oil and gas, with a certain brutality,” he said.

“When one is a great power, one should not be brutal.”

Energy disputes between Russia and neighbors such as Belarus and Ukraine have raised doubts in Europe about Moscow’s reliability as a gas exporter. It supplies Europe, via its neighbors, with around a quarter of its gas demands.

That’s certainly a far cry from the cynical, fruitless pronouncements that we were accustomed to hearing from his predecessor, Jacques Chirac.  And while Sarkozy reserved the right to disagree with America on the international stage, he has certainly had warm words for us folks across the Atlantic.  He chose the US as his first major vacation destination of his presidency – even taking time for lunch with President Bush in Maine during his stay.

Second, consider the visit to Iraq by Sarkozy’s foreign minister, Bernard Kouchner.  While his recent statements included a few backhanded slaps at what France regards as US mistakes, even Kouchner made remarks that were also a far cry from the days of Chirac.

France can help by working with the United Nations and the European Union in the cause of peace. France supports the international initiatives taken in recent months to set in motion a political and international process to address the crisis. The United Nations took a step in the right direction on Aug. 10 when it approved Resolution 1770 calling for the organization to take a broader role in Iraq. We must now work to make that move effective.

Whereas Chirac was willing to turn his back on the Iraqis out of disdain for President Bush, the new French administration has decided to take an active role in the nation despite its disagreement with the US over their invasion of Iraq.  Kouchner says -

In my conversations there, I perceived a deep need among many Iraqis for recognition and for new ties with France and Europe. The Iraqis have been isolated for too long and feel abandoned by the international community. After years of debating the American presence in Iraq, the time has come for us to turn our attention to the Iraqis themselves.

Exactly.  And even though the rhetoric out of Paris is not exactly the type of cheerleading that we received from Tony Blair and other coalition members, it represent a step in the right direction by the French.  After years of bitter isolationism and attempts to undermine US efforts on the world stage by Chirac, France is starting to make some sense.  These guys are almost starting to seem cute and cuddly again.

My Conspiracy Theories about the Conspiracy Theorists

The more these types of videos show up on YouTube, the more people seem to be getting fed up with them.

Ron Paul’s heyday is ending and we know there is no chance in Hell that he is going to win the primary.

The same people who posted this video are also Ron Paul supporters.

The subject of this video features this kook; Barry Zwicker, who right off the bat, ADMITS being an anti-Vietnamer nut from the 70′s and also admits being left-winged and tops it off by admitting that he is an environmental activist.  So obviously; the man is touched.  He’s been supporting anti-human and anti-American causes since the John Lennon “Give Peace a Chance” era.

Now, to Paul’s credit — he did denounce some of these crazy theories, but he has not come out to denounce all of the support he is getting from these loons.  Moreover; Ron Paul continues to make excuses for terrorists by blaming America for “intervening” after it has been well-documented time and time again of what happens when we refuse to “intervene” as Carter did in 1979 and as Clinton did during his entire tenure.  Ignoring them didn’t stop 9/11!

I mean, the evidence is so overwhleming to folks that the last thing on the minds of Muslim fanatics when it comes to Western civilization is peace!

I’ve always thought that Ron Paul, his supporters, and these crazy 9/11 conspiracy people were dangerous to our society.

My conspiracy theory has developed from these types of folks being simply insane to actually pondering if Paul, his supporters, and/or these nuts are being paid by Al-Queda to vocally denounce America.

I mean, it makes perfect sense to me.  These folks say the exact same thing about the American government to support their cause (when it has been disproven over and over again) and imply that the government is covering up truth.  But miraculously, the provisions provided in the Patriot Act that they are so hysterical over have managed to prevent from hauling them all off to preventative detention or the looney bin where they belong.

These people are either crazy or they are being funded by Al-Queda to betray their country and demoralize Amrica and its troops in this crucial time of war.

We can’t be nice to these people anymore.  This kind of speech should not be tolerated because it is threatening EVERYONE’S security.

I Used to Love Thunderstorms!

chicagoflood.jpg

As a lot of you may know, my area is going through some major floods right now.  Luckily all I had was some large branches to clean up out back (I live on about an acre of wooded land) and the various tornados that whipped through spared me some would-be damage.  Near me though, a roof was torn off yesterday afternoon.

Today my brother was in the hospital for surgery on another issue and they had to evacuate the entire hospital today because it was flooding inside.  He called me half-sedated from a bus to let me know.

Luckily he’s been transported to another hospital and is safe.

We’re supposed to get more rain tonight but hopefully it’s supposed to all be tapered off by Sunday.

Here I am whining that my phone has been out (but miraculously the DSL still works) when others have lost lives and their entire homes.

It’s a blessing from God for me.  It could have been much worse!
