Whose Problem?

The current Democrat Congress is just a gift that keeps on giving.  If the GOP can just get their act together for a few months around election time, this will be a cakewalk.  South Carolina Representative Jim Clyburn (Dem whip in the House) really showed his cards in a recent interview.  TheState.com reports -

Clyburn’s statement came in a Washington Post article on Monday in which the House majority leader from Columbia said a positive report on progress by Army Gen. David Patreaus could hurt Democrats’ efforts to end the war.

“I think there would be enough support in that group to want to stay the course and if the Republicans were to stay united as they have been, then it would be a problem for us,” Clyburn told the Post. “We, by and large, would be wise to wait on the report.”

Ok.  Clyburn and others claim that his remark about success in Iraq being a problem for the Dems – was taken out of context.  Bullcrap.  Let’s do some sentence analysis here.

if the Republicans were to stay united as they have been, then it would be a problem for us,” Clyburn told the Post.

Dwell on that for a second.  Let it sink in.  Ok?  Look at it again.

if the Republicans were to stay united as they have been, then it would be a problem for us,” Clyburn told the Post.

Now go and reread the full quote.  It is a “problem” for the Democrats if General Patreaus comes to DC with a report indicating that the surge is working and that things are turning around in Iraq.  Why would you end a war that is going successfully?  Why would you pull your troops out of battle if they are winning. I know some liberal Brookings Institute loons finally figured that out. Add to that Senators Dick Durbin and Bob Casey. Go figure.

To borrow a phrase from Rush – the Dems are “invested in defeat.”  They don’t care if we are winning.  They just need to appease the fringe left of their party.  For them, there is no option but withdrawl from Iraq. The best scenario for them, as Clyburn reveals, is for the war to go badly so that they have a strong case for leaving Iraq.

Don’t you see?  If the economy is good, it’s bad for the Dems.  If the war in Iraq is going well, it’s bad for the Dems.  Anything that is good for this nation is bad for the Dems (and vice-versa I guess).

Why do people elect these buffoons?  I’ll never understand.  But Clyburn really showed his ass.  Finally we have a true insight into the Democrat Party and their line of thinking.  I hope the GOP candidate for President in 2008 uses that clip in a commercial.  Clyburn is the poster child for a GOP President and Congress in 2008.
