Want To Discuss Hell?

wbc_protest.jpg

The anti-gay, anti-Catholic, anti-semitic, anti-American, anti-everything Westboro Baptist Church of Fred Phelps , Sr. was hit was massive legal judgement today over their picketing of the funeral of an American soldier killed overseas.

BALTIMORE  —  The father of a fallen Marine was awarded nearly $11 million Wednesday in damages by a jury that found leaders of a fundamentalist church had invaded the family’s privacy and inflicted emotional distress when they picketed the Marine’s funeral.

The jury first awarded $2.9 million in compensatory damages. It returned later in the afternoon with its decision to award $6 million in punitive damages for invasion of privacy and $2 million for causing emotional distress to the Marine’s father, Albert Snyder of York, Pa.

Snyder sued the Kansas-based Westboro Baptist Church for unspecified monetary damages after members staged a demonstration at the March 2006 funeral of his son, Lance Cpl. Matthew Snyder, who was killed in Iraq.

If you aren’t familiar with Westboro Baptist Church, I suggest you check out the link above.  In short, they are a cult infatuated with homosexuality.  They have been disavowed by extremist fundamentalists, mainstream Christian organizations and anyone who refers to themselves as Baptists.  Jerry Falwell called them out as idiots (his funeral was protested by WBC as a result).

I can’t even begin to describe these people.  You need to hit Wikipedia and google to learn about these incestuous, cultish, bitter, anti-God, unpatriotic assholes to understand exactly who they are.  I really shouldn’t even give them attention, but they make my blood boil.  These heretics will rot in hell.  Until then, at least they may soon be financially destitute.  As much as I have been a First Amendment purist, I am happy to see this result from our judicial system.

Guess What?

Did you know that the Iowa caucuses are just over 9 weeks away?  Crazy, but it’s about to get crazier.  Hold onto your seats folks!

Why We Love/Hate Ann Coulter

 Just for Philip ;-)

My buddy Sam (another gay conservative) made this amazing mix of liberal you-tubers’ reactions to Coulter.  Thus explaining why we really love her.

Anyone who enrages liberals like this is priceless.

Don’t watch if liberalesque intellectualism expletives offend you!!

“Hillary’s House Of Horrors”

Suddenly, Mitt Romney is appealing to me as he describes what he calls “Hillary’s House of Horrors.”

“You go in one room, she wants to raise your taxes. You go in another room and she wants to have government taking over health care,” Romney said Saturday to laughter and applause. “You go in the next room and she’s weakened homeland security by voting against the authority of our government to listen in to al-Qaida’s calls.”

Well said, Mitt.

Freeing A Thug

Yemen has released the mastermind behind the USS Cole attack in 2000.

Al-Badawi — who had escaped prison last year — was freed after turning himself in two weeks ago, renouncing terrorism and pledging allegiance to Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh, according to news reports.

Yeah.  That makes me feel better.  The guy has escaped twice from an obviously-incompetent Yemeni penal system.  And now everything is ok because he pledged his allegiance to Yemen’s president.  I’m sure the thug is rehabilitated now.

If you haven’t guessed by now, US officials aren’t exactly pleased about this.  Add to this, the voice of the former commander of the USS Cole.

“In the war on terrorism, actions speak stronger than words, and this act by the Yemeni government is a clear demonstration that they are neither a reliable nor trustworthy partner in the war on terrorism,” said Cmdr. Kirk Lippold.

For all of the outrage, this one will go away quietly.  Yemen has probably done just enough to be considered an “ally” in the war on terror.  I’m keen to agree with Rudy Giuliani who proposes that we withhold $20 million in aid to Yemen over this travesty.  Yemen isn’t a big enough player, but this is a true slap in the face.  I’m tired of the two-faced “allies” in the Middle East.

That’s My Girl

Continuing a tradition from the RedStateGay blog, here’s a pic of my niece Gracie.  She’s such a cutie and a sweetie.  Hard to believe she’s related to me.  Happy weekend folks!

The Lies That Syrians Tell

Before and after satellite pictures of the suspected Syrian nuclear reactor

In the early hours of a September morning, shortly after midnight, Israeli fighter jets leveled an installation inside Syria that the Israelis claimed was a nascent nuclear reactor modeled after a North Korean facility.  The silence from Syria was deafening.  There was no major protest – at least not while the Syrians were cleaning up the evidence.  New satellite images taken of the site seem to bear out the allegations.

New commercial satellite photos show that a Syrian site believed to have been attacked by Israel last month no longer bears any obvious traces of what some analysts said appeared to have been a partly built nuclear reactor.

Two photos, taken Wednesday from space by rival companies, show the site near the Euphrates River to have been wiped clean since August, when imagery showed a tall square building there measuring about 150 feet on a side.

The Syrians reported an attack by Israel in early September; the Israelis have not confirmed that. Senior Syrian officials continue to deny that a nuclear reactor was under construction, insisting that Israel hit a largely empty military warehouse.

But the images, federal and private analysts say, suggest that the Syrian authorities rushed to dismantle the facility after the strike, calling it a tacit admission of guilt.

Pretty obvious indeed.  The “tacit admission of guilt” also includes slips of the tongue and the stealth surrounding the incident.  If the site was not, in fact, a nuclear reactor – then it was obviously something that the Syrians were keeping secret from the rest of the world.

Any attempt by Syrian authorities to clean up the site would make it difficult, if not impossible, for international weapons inspectors to determine the exact nature of the activity there. Officials from the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna have said they hoped to analyze the satellite images and ultimately inspect the site in person. David Albright, president of the Institute for Science and International Security, a private group in Washington that released a report on the Syrian site earlier this week, said the expurgation of the building was inherently suspicious.

“It looks like Syria is trying to hide something and destroy the evidence of some activity,” Albright said in an interview. “But it won’t work. Syria has got to answer questions about what it was doing.”

Exactly!  Of course I am bewildered by the logic put forth by one “expert.”

“It’s clearly very suspicious,” said Joseph Cirincione, an expert on nuclear proliferation at the Center for American Progress in Washington. “The Syrians were up to something that they clearly didn’t want the world to know about.”

Cirincione said the photographic evidence “tilts toward a nuclear program” but does not prove that Syria was building a reactor. Besides, he said, even if it was developing a nuclear program, Syria would be years away from being operational, and thus not an imminent threat.

I am sick of this “imminent threat” BS.  So what?  Isn’t it better to be proactive about a potential Syrian nuclear threat now than later?  How does it make the Israeli action any less important?  It kind of makes you want to throw up your arms (or your dinner) and crawl into a bunker.  If we had hit Iran at this stage, we wouldn’t have half of the problems we now face.  Of course, Syria is keeping a stiff upper lip.

Imad Moustapha, the Syrian ambassador to the United States, denied in an interview last week with The Dallas Morning News that his country was trying to build a reactor.

“There is no Syrian nuclear program whatsoever,” he said. “It’s an absolutely blatant lie.”

Later in the interview, he said, “We understand that if Syria even contemplated nuclear technology, then the gates of hell would open on us.”

Mr. Ambassador, you don’t understand or fear anything evidently.  You haven’t seen the gates of hell yet.  Don’t play us like fools.  The Israelis, at least, are on to your game.

Maher Finds out the Downside of Being a Liberal

This was a real treat!  The only people dumb enough to believe that the government was involved in 9/11 conspiracies are liberals (aside from the crazies supporting Ron Paul).  Here we go again with more “Building 7″ propoganda.  (The same conspiracy Rosie O’Donnell believes in).

I feel sorry for Maher.  Aside for the fact that his guests were Sheila Jackson Lee and Chris Matthews; he actually has to try and sit through an audience of liberals who have spent too much time surfing 9/11 conspiracy sites, Alex Jones sites, and reading Rosie’s blog (and not working like the rest of us have to) .

I like Bill Maher in the sense that the man is actually smart and funny.  But it has to be said that up until this point, these crazies thought they’d be welcome in his audience.  More Democrats and Ron Paul should vocally denounce these crazies every chance they get.  But unfortunately, most fall into this trap (let’s face it, Paul needs every vote he can get).

If Maher would have spent more time making fun of these crazies in lieu of degrading his President that has kept him safe since 2001, perhaps this type would not show up to act as opportunists.  And perhaps they would never think that this type of venue would welcome them in the first place.

Nice to see him make fun of them and throw them out!

BTW, I didn’t see Sheila Jackson Lee or Chris Matthews vocally denouncing the crazies as Maher did. (Unless it’s in a later segment.)  Prove me wrong otherwise.

****Update****

Apparently Maher did bring this up a month ago and made fun of the 9/11 conspiracy loons.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qxOljd9oOzo

I give him credit for that, but I still find it funny that he really is the only mainstream liberal pundit to make fun of the Rosie-crowd to this extent.  Maybe Ann can get him really drunk one night and convert him.  ;-)

Ding Dong the Witch Is Dead

Which old witch?  No, not Hillary.  And not a literal death.  I’m speaking of a political fade-away. Louisiana Governor, Kathleen Blanco who, along with New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin, presided over the disastrous response to Hurricane Katrina – is a mere memory.  In her place is newly-elected Republican Governor, Bobby Jindal (a now-former US Rep.)

Good luck to Governor Jindal in cleaning up Blanco’s mess.  It’s going to be a thankless job.  The man’s got to be a saint.

A Source of Pride

One loser endorses another loser…..

Former Vice President Walter Mondale, the 1984 Democratic presidential nominee, is planning to endorse Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.), The Hill has learned.

Mondale’s endorsement could prove especially valuable in Iowa, which borders his home state of Minnesota. Mondale won Iowa overwhelmingly in the ’84 primary.

The endorsement is fitting given Mondale’s decision more than two decades ago to select Geraldine Ferraro as his running mate, the first time a woman was tapped to serve on a major party’s presidential ticket. If Clinton wins the Democratic nomination, she would also make history.

The Clinton campaign did not respond to several requests for comment.

If I were an advisor for Hillary’s campaign, I wouldn’t comment either.  A lib “has-been” has endorsed her.  Speaks volumes I guess.
