Rush Cashes in on “Language”

For all the Republican nervousness created by liberal poltical-correctness syndrome, Rush Limbaugh has amusingly put the letter sent to him by Senate Democrats rebuking him for using the term “phony soldier” up for auction on E-Bay.

Of course; much like in the case of Ann Coulter last week when Donny Deutsch became the Al Sharpton of the Jews, Rush was taken out of context.  Of course, he was talking about phony liberals who pretend to be soldiers when they call in to his show.

In the most expensive auction to date, Limbaugh managed to sell the letter for $2.1 million with the proceeds being donated to Marine Corps-Law Enforcement Foundation Inc., a New Jersey-based nonprofit organization that provides scholarships and other assistance to families of Marines and federal law enforcement officials who die or are wounded in the line of duty.  (You know, “real soldiers.”)

The NY Times article is a bit misleading.  As if there should be any surprise, the article written by Stephanie Strom opens up with the following:

After Rush Limbaugh referred to Iraq war veterans critical of the war as “phony soldiers,” he received a letter of complaint signed by 41 Democratic senators.

I guess we should at least be thankful that it was even mentioned in the NY Times.

This is what Republicans should be doing.  Whenever Democrats throw a hissy-fit, make fun of it, and move on.  You know, there isn’t anything better than Rush making a mockery out of the entire Democratic Party.

Say, come to think of it, this is probably the best thing Democrats have done for the American people since they got control!

Talking Some Sense

Gary Bauer is a footnote in the GOP.  He ran for president, wrote some great books and has been at the forefront of the evangelical/political movement.  You might think that someone like him would be in the Dobson movement.  You might think that he, like James Dobson, would be amenable to a 3rd party candidate in 2008.  Wrong.

Bauer gets it.  He’s sees the threat from 4 or more years of a Dem at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.  He’s a true realist in the evangelical movement.

Bauer told me his “personal hope” is “that we can put aside the speculation about a third party,” started by Dobson in a New York Times op-ed calling for social conservatives to back a third-party candidate should the two major-party nominees fail, in effect, to share his values. Bauer says such talk “has been unhelpful. While I understand the frustration that drives it, it has been demoralizing to many of our friends in Washington that we count on.” Those friends, of course, are GOP leaders and strategists.

But Bauer understands what Dobson and many others in the evangelical movement do not – that Hillary or Obama are huge threats to everything that the evangelicals stand for.  These two groups are diametrically opposed to everything that they and all conservatives hold dear.  There is a major difference in “sticking to your guns” and “cutting off your nose to spite your face.”

It’s insane to judge the GOP candidates based on some religious standard.  Do that in the primary.  If you are a religious voter, cast your vote for former Southern Baptist preacher, Mike Huckabee.  I don’t object to Huckabee.  But don’t penalize the GOP candidate in the general election because he isn’t with you on 100% of the issues.  Bauer really gets this -

Bauer is dismayed that some of his colleagues seem willing to apply a religious test – to base their votes on whether or not a candidate is a Christian. “I would prefer someone who shares my [faith],” says Bauer, before noting that being a Christian believer doesn’t necessarily mean an officeholder will be right on the issues. Consider, he says, the disappointing case of Jimmy Carter. “We work with all sorts of people on causes we care about. And God is able to use all kinds of people,” not just Christians. “Mitt Romney [a Mormon] and I would have deep disagreements over matters of faith. But I would have significant differences on theology with a Catholic or a Jew or an agnostic or an atheist.” Bauer’s point is that “significant differences on theology” shouldn’t foreclose voting for someone not of your faith – or (to borrow the George W. Bush formulation) of no faith at all.

I know that it seems like I am picking on James Dobson lately.  I am not.  I relish the fact that he is a base for the GOP.  I am a Christian – just not the type that Dobson prefers.  Bauer is as hardcore as they get when it comes to evangelicals.  But he understands and sees things very clearly.  Other evangelicals should take note.

I read Bauer and admired him growing up.  My mom introduced me to his books.  I really like the guy, and he speaks to me in a lot of ways.  I’m not with him fully, but he and I have found a common cause.  If there was one person that I thought might be echoing Dobson’s grumblings, I would think it might be him.  But he’s not.  And I’m thrilled.

Giving Up

This story just makes me sick at my stomach.

SAN FRANCISCO — City health officials and addiction experts took the first steps Thursday toward opening the nation’s only government-sponsored injection room that would give drug addicts a safe, clean place to shoot up.

Hoping to reduce San Francisco’s high rate of fatal drug overdoses, the local public health department co-sponsored a symposium on the only such facility in North America, a 4-year-old Vancouver site where an estimated 700 users a day self-administer narcotics under the supervision of nurses.

Oh God.  We’re reduced to this?  I don’t think this one merits much further discussion.  Just consider that this is happening in the Congressional district represented by Nancy Pelosi.  Considering her popularity there, it says a lot about the values that she might harbor.  Disgusting!

Getting Outta Jersey

This comes as no surprise to me….

New Jersey already is suffering from an image problem and bears the brunt of jokes because of its corruption and pollution problems. But 58 percent of those residents polled said the heavy financial burden of just living in the state is no laughing matter, and that’s why they want to leave.

Poll participants cited high property taxes (28 percent), the cost of living (19 percent), state taxes (5 percent) and housing costs (6 percent) as the main reasons they want out. The poll also found that 51 percent of those who expressed a desire to leave planned to do so, with adults under the age of 50 making between $50,000 and $100,000 the most likely to flee.

I’d love to see the poll in Michigan which is also suffering from the choices that voters made in the voting booths.  New Jersey is a one-party (Democrat) state whose citizens continue to elect people to office that want to raise their taxes and spend like idiots.  And they even want to export this nonsense to rest of the nation by electing people like Frank Lautenberg and Robert Menendez to the US Senate.  These two goofs are trying to do the same thing to us nationally that their party has accomplished locally.

Of course, this poll didn’t sit well with the administration of uber-liberal New Jersey Governor, Jon Corzine.  As usual, his office had an explanation that was no more than pure spin on an embarrassing story.

“The high cost of living in the Northeast is not news,” Brendan Gilfillan, a spokesman for Gov. Jon Corzine, said in an e-mail statement. “But it is one of the reasons Gov. Corzine has worked tirelessly to help poor and working-class residents of New Jersey by implementing the Earned Income Tax Credit, expanding S-CHIP and increasing — and sustaining — property tax relief.”

Gilfillan said Corzine also had cut costs by reducing the government workforce, though he noted people would continue to leave New Jersey as baby boomers retired.

“Demographics are only going to accentuate this trend, as the bulk of these folks have yet to leave the workforce,” Gilfillan said.

Republicans in the state had a more realistic take on things -

But Republican Assemblyman Richard Merkt said it was the fiscal policies of the governor and legislature that were to blame for the exodus.

“It’s no wonder that New Jersey is a national joke,” he said. “We’ve done it to ourselves with these just positively irresponsible policies.”

He’s right.  The people have done it to themselves in New Jersey.  Why people continue to vote for these bozos is a mystery to me.  I guess if the people of New Jersey ever wake up, they might decide to start changing things via the voting booth.  When they do, we’ll be here waiting for ya, Jersey.

Attack Against Pakistani Democracy

Earlier today, former Pakistani Prime Minister, Benazir Bhutto’s, homecoming out of exile was rocked by an assasination attempt that killed over 100 people and left scores wounded.  The bombs were most likely suicide attempts to undermine the role that Bhutto hopes to play in the government of Pakistan in a power-sharing agreement with President Musharraf.  Bhutto was unhurt.

If you want to understand the reason that terrorist thugs might want to kill Bhutto, simply look to her own comments.

With tears in her eyes as she walked off the plane that had brought her from Dubai, Ms Bhutto waved at supporters and said: “I feel good.

“I counted the hours, the minutes and the seconds just to see this land, sky and grass.”

The 54-year-old said she was fighting for democracy and to help her country defeat the extremism that she said had given it the reputation as a hotbed of international terrorism.

It is imperative that the US continue to support the government of Pakistan.  It is also imperative that any change in Pakistan’s government involve pro-democratic forces such as Bhutto’s party.  The stakes are high in this nuclear-armed, Islamic nation.  We cannot afford to turn over their arsenal to people like the thugs who committed this atrocity.

Attack of the 99-Pound Republican

I told you………I TOLD YOU!

This is such a marketing campaign for Donny Deutsch and if indeed he could get his message across on his own show, why the hell does he have to take it on the Today Show?  Which proves the point I am making.

Ann Coulter was right!  This excellent article covers it quite well but it reminds most of us what indeed she was speaking about.  If Donny Deutsch were a true-Jew, he would have understood it.  Jesus and all prophets were indeed Jews until they became “perfected” and became Christians; thus, explaining the basis of the entire New Testament.  So, Deutsch goes onto the Today Show and proclaims that this is an example of how Americans are tired of hate.  WHAT!?  It’s religious doctrine.

I’m sorry – idiocy is just not tolerable anymore.  Deutsch has exposed himself as a sellout who will continue to have Ann Coulter on so that he gets oodles of YouTube attention so that his show gets more viewers.  If he were really offended before over the Clinton remark or the Jersey Girls, he would have stopped having her on.

He purposely kept pushing Coulter to say something that he could turn around and use as “offensive” so he can take his turn on the victim-Ferris-wheel.

I guarantee his show will be getting cancelled, and this was his way of trying to breathe new life into it.  But for idiot liberals who pretend like they know anything whatsoever about Judaism, the Bible, or Christianity - America would have seen right through this instantaneously.

Deutsch, the Jersey Girls, Max Cleland, Katie Couric, the entire staff at the Today Show, AND Rupert Murdoch ought to send Coulter a MASSIVE thank-you note.

Stopping Syrian Nukes

Here’s one from the realm of “We knew this weeks ago.”  Not sure why it is just now being republished.

We knew that Israel conducted an air raid inside Syria.  We knew that the raid involved a nuclear facility.  And we knew that North Koreans were present.  What I don’t know is why officials in the Bush administration were allegedly divided over the strike.

The administration of President George W. Bush was divided about the strike, and some senior policymakers still regard it as premature, the report said.

The facility that the Israelis struck in Syria appears to have been much further from completion than the Osirak nuclear reactor that Israel destroyed in Iraq in 1981, the paper said.

Officials said it would have been years before the Syrians could have used the reactor to produce the spent nuclear fuel that could, through a series of additional steps, be reprocessed into bomb-grade plutonium, according to The Times.

So what?

If we had hit Iranian nuclear facilities a long time ago, then we wouldn’t have to deal with many of the problems that we now face in the Middle East (Iran).  To quote Mayberry’s loveable deputy, Barney Fife, “Nip it in the bud!”  What are we and Israel supposed to do?  Sit around and wait until Syria is on the brink of possessing nuclear weapons?  I guess then we could pass a series of useless UN resolutions and keep the diplomats busy.

Geez people – it’s not that hard.  Are the Israelis the only sane realists on the face of the globe???

NCAA Football Note

ou-pic.jpg

Just a quick note sure to bore any non-football posters on the site -

The NCCA fotball season has been nuts.  The #1 (LSU) and #2 (California) teams lost last night.  Last week the then-#2 team (USC) also lost.  The week before that, half of the top 10 teams went down.

My Sooners beat one of the few undefeated teams left (Missouri) last night.  That means we’re still in the hunt for a national championship.  What a crazy season this has been.

BOOMER!

SOONER!

The Turkish End-Around

My posts on foreign matters don’t usually seem to invite many comments.  But this one should invoke a lot of serious thought – not only about our foreign policy but also about the people we elect to Congress.  If you don’t like profanity, I’d suggest you stop reading here.  I’m mad as hell, and I’m going to let you know about it.

Democrats in Congress are prepared to approve a resolution condemning the mass killings of Armenians by the Turks – A CENTURY AGO!!!  Dear God.  I love history, but I don’t know all the facts about the Ottoman Turk actions against Armenians in the WWI era.  What I do know is this – IT WAS 100 YEARS AGO.  What the hell???

Read this……

Our Secretary of State has been relegated to apologizing to our ally, Turkey, for a potential resolution in Congress regarding something that happened 100 YEARS AGO!!!  Instead of dealing with more important matters like social security, taxes, crime or education – this failure of a Congress (led by Democrats) is intent on antagonizing a strategic ally of the US to the point that they have recalled their ambassador.

Our supplies to Iraq are routed through Turkey.  An overwhelming percentage of all the weapons, food, fuel, etc. destined for our troops in Iraq make their way through Turkey.  I have a hard time believing that this is anything less than an attempt by Dems to strain relations with Turkey in order to undermine our mission in Iraq.  Similar resolutions in past years were passed before this.  Why are they choosing NOW to repeat this crap? This is pure, unadulterated bullshit.

Democrats have no conscience.  Where was their outrage over the torture chambers and killing that existed under Sadaam Hussein?  They’re suddenly outraged at an event that happened 100 YEARS AGO? Everything that these numbskulls do is politically calculated BS.  They don’t have the backbone to show their faces and cut off funding for the war in Iraq.  So they take a back door and threaten to approve a pathetically meaningless resolution that embarrasses a key ally of the US.

People – wake the hell up!  The Dem leadership in Congress is doing everything in their power to hurt this nation.  They claim, out of one side of their mouth, to want to improve our image abroad.  Then they go and pull this shit to make us look like idots.  To put things into perspective, France’s parliament passed a similar resolution condemning Turkey.  Do you want to be associated on that level???

This resolution passed the committe by a vote of 27-21.  The Bush administration has been hard at work lobbying against the measure.  If the House approves this measure in a floor vote, then you can be sure that Turkey will cut us off.  They will severe the supply routes to Iraq.  They will take actions that hurt our troops.  They will launch an attack into northern Iraq to quell the Kurds.  They will destabilize the only region of Iraq that has been consistently quiet.

If you don’t believe that this Dem move is coldly calculated – you are living in an alternate universe.  These assholes know exactly what they are doing.  To all of you Republicans who voted these idiots into office with your protest votes or abstentions – how is this working out for you?  How does it feel?

The 2008 elections are a war.  Everyday that I watch these Dem dipshits in Congress, I am more motivated.  This one just takes the cake.

Liberals Going Crazy Over Religion?

It took Ann Coulter 50 thousand boring appearances on Hardball to realize that Chris Matthews was a liberal sellout.  When is she going to get the same message about Donny Deutsch (basically Barbara Boxer without the make-up)?  The last interview I saw of him with her was when he basically had a sissy fest over her remarks about the Jersey Girls.  Then it was Donny that was responsible for the indignance created over Ann implying that Bill Clinton’s behavior implied a level of “latent homosexuality” with a “bathhouse mentality.”  (Okay, I’d buy that, btw)  But for some reason, Deutsch takes the indignant road.  I don’t know how many times he has told Ann he was offended by something she has said, but I sure know how he gets his show in the headlines – by his many interviews with Ann Coulter

In the last interview, Coulter described Christians as “perfected Jews” and as she explained this, Deutsch continued to cut her off and was happy to leave it at her saying something offensive about Jews, him being offended, him acting indignant while simultaneously claiming that he’s not a liberal.

Deutsch certainly is not passing the conservative-test with me.  Doesn’t he know that being an effective conservative means that you have to be censured by House and Senate Democrats?  Doesn’t he know that in order to be a real Republican, you have to have authors like Adam Nichols of the NY Daily News saying things about you like:

She called 9/11 widows “witches,” demanded killing and converting Muslims and branded presidential candidate John Edwards a “faggot.”

Now big-mouthed right-winger Ann Coulter has turned her slur machine on Jews.

Now we all know by now that Ann did not suggest converting all Muslims to Christianity (just the ones cheering and dancing in the streets of Middle-Eastern countries celebrating 3,000 American deaths).  We all know that Ann did not call 9/11 widows “witches” – she referred to four widows known as the “Jersey Girls” as “witches” and “harpies” for using their husbands’ deaths to force their insane political beliefs on the entire country that puts us at risk for more attacks.  She also referred to Edwards as a “faggot” in the schoolyard wuss-meaning to make fun of the fact that Isiah Washington was sent to rehab for using a word.

Similarly, I know that Coulter was trying to make a point to Deutsch about Biblical doctrine and Christians.  It is a fact that Jews are more bound by law to get to God than Christians are.  Christians accept that Christ died for their sins and we know that we are covered by his blood.  As Ann pointed out, Christians have the fast-track to Christ.  It’s like an Express-train.

I wonder if liberals got this indignant over Ahmadinejad’s denunciation of Jews?  Well of course they did!  There were so angered he got an invitation to speak at Columbia University!

In the end we have another victory for Ann, Donny Deutsch’s boring show gets a little media coverage, and we get to humorously listen to liberals pretend to care about Judaism!  A religion with 50-thousand more rules and laws than Christianity.

  • The Cost of Ann’s New Book: $14.97
  • Donny Deutch’s pin-striped suit jacket worn in the interview: $49
  • Listening to liberals defend any religion other than Islam: Priceless!

If Deutsch was a real-practicing Jew, or if liberals knew what they were talking about, they would know what any other true Jew or Christian knows in regard to what she was saying.  There was nothing “absurd” about it.
