Usually when most people quit smoking, it’s an event. They mark their calendars, stock up on cigarettes and have themselves one hell of a smoke-out.
I smoked my last cigaratte about three hours ago. I ran out and went to pick some up and realized when I got to my neighborhood convenience store that I forgot my wallet. I grabbed the first pair of jeans on the way out and luckily those jeans had about 2.50 in change in them.
Of course, cigarettes are about 4.50 per pack here in the Will County, so I would have had to clean the change out of my car (about $50 worth, NO KIDDING) - or – drive back home to get my wallet. I stood for a second – pondered what to do – and decided that with my birthday coming up Tuesday, that it was time to quit.
I was a pack-a-day smoker here for about 2 years, and before had smoked at least 1/2 pack a day since my early twenties (with the exception of a year where I stopped).
I took my 2.50 and bought a shitload of gum though.
I’m tired of spending the money, tired of driving back and forth to the store, tired of smelling up my car, tired period.
So, wish me luck! I quit smoking!!!!!!!!!!!

OMG! Steve! I’m super proud of you!
If you need someone to bitch at when you’re nicotineless, just buzz me.
Good Luck! If it helps with the cravings, every time you get hit with a big one, remember me walking around the White House not knowing that my skirt was ripped all the way up the back.
Yep, it happened.
And the snorts of laughter ought to take your mind off the nic-feening.
Steve, m’friend, I hope this works out as you want it to. I, too, am considering letting go of the habit … but am still just thinking about it. I quit a couple times, more or less, and found that the Commit lozenges help extremely because they allow you a nic. buzz in places cigs don’t, such as the shower, or at work. Let us know how you do with this. No pressure, I respect you’re telling us about it. And HAPPY Birthday!!!!!
I’m happy to hear that Steve.
You’ve just added 15 years to your life.
Happy Birthday, Steve!
My Marine Corps’ birthday was Saturday, but I don’t smoke, so it was just the Marine Corps’ Birthday!
all good luck to you and the best of birthdays
