Canada’s Toronto Sun and it’s “Fairness” Doctrine

I picked this up from anncoulter.com tonight.

Rachel Marsden has always been such a great talent.  I always referred to her as Canada’s version of Ann Coulter and once she even was sweet enough to show up on a previous blog I had a couple years back to personally thank me for my kind words.

Because of Marsden, I had not completely lost faith in Canada.  Because of Marsden, I got a great laugh whenever I saw her on Fox News.  Because of Marsden, I actually read a periodic column published by a Canadian publisher.

That’s changed though.   The folks over at DailyKos got a look at Marsden’s latest column which stated:

I suppose that those who object to terror suspects getting water up the nose would say that, as a young competitive swimmer, I was also tortured. It was called “hypoxic training” — swimming underwater and holding our breath until we passed out. Our coaches didn’t call it torture, just an exercise in “mental toughness.” So think of it this way — terror suspects are getting some free mental toughness training courtesy of the U.S. government.

Daily Kos immediately put up a message on its website to write the editors of the Toronto Sun to pull a column that had been published and enjoyed by many individuals for quite some time.   That’s right, nutty leftwingers inspired the Sun to fire a columnist after two years.  I don’t suppose it has anything to do with the fact that the editor in chief is liberal, Lou Clancy, does it?

Well, Kos might be effective in Canada and Marsden is a massive Patriot who deserves citizenship of this country while we ship off about 10,000 Kos nuts to Canada.  Imagine how much better the country would be.

Liberals have gotten their heads so far up their own asses in their campaign to Bush-bash that they’ve actually talked themselves into believing that worrying about the torture of a terrorist – that would do a hell of a lot more harm to the liberal if the circumstance had reversed itself — is worth losing sleep over.

This is no joke.  Liberals have gone beyond their normal annoying whining selves – they have become a general threat to human safety — in Canada that is.

And no matter how hard they try, they will never be able to silence Coulter, Malkin, Limbaugh, or Hannity.  Because this is America, and like it or not we’re not finished until we waterboard the last creep that thinks that slaughtering Americans is a mission demanded by Allah.

Welcome to America Rachel!  Your next stop is to write a book, because no matter how many times liberals try to get you fired, the real American people will treat you like the patriot you are — just ask Ann Coulter.  ;-)

Go to Rachel’s website to read her rebuttal and purchase a t-shirt to benefit the soldiers.

Also, check out LotusBlog that brought all of this to light here in the states.

That really is unfair. What she said is actually pretty mild. Are people fired in Canada for having opinions? Why else print a column? Ugggggggggg.

How can you swallow whole Rachel’s absurd claim that an obscure left wing US blogging club got her fired from one of the largest newspapers in Canada?
Rachel was and is opposed in Canada (and in the US) by more than “liberals”, Democrats and socialists; libertarians, conservatives, classical liberals, and increasingly, neoconservatives, out of sheer embarassment, have all objected to her presence on the Toronto Sun’s pages.
Add career um, fudging, to her repetoire of criminal and bizarre behavioural issues, and you should be able to figure out why she no longer draws a paycheque in the MSM.
A casual glance at her ruminations and writings should also make abundantly clear she is hardly gay-friendly. Neither — surprise — are Limbaugh, Hannity, Malken, and many others idolize on this site. Marsden, like these people, go far beyond even the indifference and occasional callousness toward queers exhibited by right wing libertarians who tend to be far more friendly.
So, um, yeah — today we bring horrific drowning torture back for SUSPECTED muslim “terrorists”..tomorrow, who? Gays, again?
And Rachel “torture-terrorist” Marsden and her waterboarding have what, exactly, to do with conservatism, again?

But Felipe here you are showing more concern for a race of people that make up 100% of the attackers skin color on 9/11 than you are for Americans or great Patriots like Malkin or Marsden that give a shit about the safety of this country.

Marsden is actually one Canadian that isn’t so stupid to realize that if the United States loses this crucial fight, Canada is next on the list of the crazies. And guess what? Canada doesn’t have what it takes to survive without the force or the strength of the United States!!!!

In the midst of trying to win a popularity contest with the Middle East, Canadian liberals have forgotten miraculously that it is the United States of America that’s nuclear capability and sophistication basically guarantees them a happy trip to safety and security. It is that strength and security they have taken for granted that allows them to completely understate the strength of this great nation.

Rachel Marsden had the “balls” (regardless of what kind of idiotic rumors you have to spew about her) to stand up amidst a land of crying sissies that have betrayed their friends and rewarded their enemies.

Tell me, what is one gay-UNFRIENDLY thing that Marsden has said that grants the accustory indignance you cast upon her while simultaneously reminding me that men at Guantanamo that would MORE-THAN-LIKELY slit your throat upon learning of your freedoms shouldn’t be waterboarded because they are “SUSPECTED!”

I’m sorry, but you’re plain nuts. You want someone barred from writing who understands that freedom isn’t free but choose to give your benefit of the doubt to men that would kill you and wouldn’t give a damn about your constitutional freedoms.

Tell you what, get the nuts at Gitmo to understand your wuss position, then we’ll talk. Otherwise, leave YOUR security to people who know the hell they’re doing! If it weren’t for them, you wouldn’t have the luxury to pointlessly bitch about it now.

Just shows what a bunch of petty thugs the left is. No wonder they cheered when Hugo Chavez shut down opposition media and his thugs fired on anti-Castro demonstrators. No wonder they so love speech codes, and want to censor any non-leftist opinion as ‘hate speech.’

Lefties know they can’t win an argument against someone like Rachel Marsden or Ann Coulter (or Limbaugh, or Hannity, or Beck, or Dennis Miller, or Laura Ingraham) on the merits, so they seek to shut them down.

  • V the K // November 13, 2007 at 11:22 am

The thing is, if speech from Marsden, Coulter, et c were really offensive, the left would want people to hear it, because it would turn people off from conservatism. If it were all lies, it would be easy to expose it as such.

But lefties know people like Marsden are speaking the truth, and it’s for that reason the left has to shut them up.

    Felipe,

Seems you’re unfamilliar with U.S. bloggers. The Daily Kos is one of the most widely read and influential American liberal blogs there is. The fact that the blog has a convention, much less that Democrat presidential hopefuls show up for it, should tell you something.

As for waterboarding “SUSPECTED” terrorists, perhaps we should wait until they turn you and your loved ones into charred corpses before we take notice?

Hi! I like your blog! I’m a pretty conservative American, but enjoy listening to people who have sane points of view and who can express them as well as y’all do (I’m from Texas). I followed the links from the Rachel Marsden piece and it ended up here. Glad I did.

As for her, she’s lucky to get off that paper. She’ll pick up a syndicate here in the States and get even more exposure – should drive the Liberals nuts! Every Time they stomp their little feet and through a hissy fit, the target of their rage gets more popular. You would think they would learn LOL!

Hi JThomas, my site parter Phillip is from texas as well.

As is Jennifer (you’ll get to know her well) who comments often.

Welcome to our little friendly circle.

I look for Marsden to skyrocket here in the states.

    Steve
