Good News! We’re Sane!

Gallup has reported that Republicans have better mental health than Dems or independents.  That’s excellent news considering earlier reports that conservatives were illiterate bumpkins since we don’t read enough books.

Republicans are significantly more likely than Democrats or independents to rate their mental health as excellent, according to data from the last four November Gallup Health and Healthcare polls. Fifty-eight percent of Republicans report having excellent mental health, compared to 43% of independents and 38% of Democrats. This relationship between party identification and reports of excellent mental health persists even within categories of income, age, gender, church attendance, and education.

I could rant in so many directions concerning this report, but I won’t  Just suffice it to say that the election of Dems in ’08 may well be due to liberal insanity.  I’ve said that in a lot of ways before.  This just confirms it.  Go GOP!

  1. kanattas,

Misinterpretation: the finding is that more GOPers rate their own mental health highly , and that that rating is higher than the ratings of the other groups — NOT that GOPers have better mental health. I think the assertion is true nonetheless because people who have a better grasp of reality are mentally healthier than those who do not. But that hypothesis is in no way proved by this study.

  2. Philip,

I understand the article, kanattas. But the fact that others rated their own mental health as less than excellent makes me raise an eyebrow. I just thought this was a fun article seeing as how Republicans seem to be constantly bashed for being ignorant, reactionary imbeciles. I’d be willing to put it to scientific test too. I bet the results might uphold that “hypothesis.” :-P
