Killing Two Birds With One Bomb

As Pakistan mourns the death of Benazir Bhutto, Obama’s campaign camp wasted no time appeasing the crazed far-left and the Code Pink nuts by using opportunity to attack both George W. Bush and Hillary Clinton – linking the Iraq war to the assassination carried out by Al-Queda.

Hillary Clinton responded by saying she regrets that Obama’s camp “would be politicizing this tragedy.”

For once, I agree with Hillary Clinton.

She could have surprised us and took one more step by pointing out that this tragedy is yet another reminder of how insane Islamic militants are.  She could have reminded us that this is why we have the Patriot Act in the United States or why we hold suspected nuts at Guantanamo that choose to intermingle with the likes of Zarqawi and Bin Laden.

Well not only did Obama’s camp sadly kill their chances of winning any national elections by taking such a cheap shot at their country’s war aims, they have also reminded us just how “junior” the Illinois senator really is in dealing with national issues.

I’m embarrassed that he’s from my state.

Backtracking With Apologies

Ok.  I lied.  A couple of months ago, I said on this very blog that I would endorse nobody in the GOP primary.  My intent was to maintain unity against the Hillary machine (though Obama seems primed).  I am, today, going to give my anti-climatic endorsement for the GOP primary.  This is primarily because of the “hot” candidate who seems to be the talk of the primaries – Mike Huckabee.  Though I will vote for Huckabee if he the GOP’s nominee, I believe he is not the best choice for the GOP.

I will officially cast my lot with former Senator Fred Thompson for the GOP nomination.  Among the current frontrunners, Fred is the only true conservative.  I will agree with Steve that Duncan Hunter is a more pure conservative than any.  I would vote for Hunter in a heartbeat, but Fred is best positioned when it comes to the primaries.  I have nothing but respect for Fred and his positions.  I disagree with his support of McCain-Feingold, but that is his only strike with me.

Fred has garnered the support of the National Right To Life Committee.  His support of socially and fiscally conservative positions as a Senator is impeccable.  He, along with John McCain, did not favor a Federal Marriage Amendment which would preclude myself and my partner, Patrick, from marrying if we so choose.  That won’t gain him many points with evangelicals, but many have chosen to overlook that in favor of his incredible conservative credentials.  This is a plus for me and a tribute to his staunch embrace of federalism.

Rush Limbaugh struck first, so I consider it fair game.  Mike Huckabee is not the best choice for our party.  His social views are acceptable.  But he is a fiscal populist.  I have been critical of President Bush for the same reasons.  The former GOP majority in Congress spent money like drunken sailors.  That is part of the reason that they are now a minority.  The secret that no one seems to address is that Bush enabled their addiction to spending.  I can’t deal with that.

Huckabee seems to have a similar affinity for this and has a record for embracing taxes.  His past statements on AIDS and other issues also makes him vulnerable to the press.  I am not sure that Huck has the ability to win over the voters in a general election.  As I said before, I am concentrated on seeing the GOP retain the White House in 2008.  And I will speak my mind to help that effort.  I do not believe that Huckabee will be the answer.  I may slap myself a year from now, but I feel that I need to speak up as we approach the primaries.

Giuliani and Romney would be good choices.  I am not here to sink them.  I would gladly support either.  But given my choice, I feel that Fred Thompson is head and shoulders above the rest.  Fred has been lackluster in his campaign, but he still has a shot.  I hope that GOP voters will take time to examine his record and determine, as I have, that Fred is the one true, viable conservative in this year’s race for the GOP presidential nomination.

Merry Christmas

I have been out of pocket lately.  Our company has moved from its old location after 18 years to a new, beautiful building that my bosses were able to afford to buy despite this “oh so terrible economy.”  This was a great year for our company and for all of its employees.  Next year figures to be a great one as well.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my time posting here.  I hope to keeping fanning the flames of conservativism and fighting the forces of insanity with my trusty keyboard in this forum for a long time to come.  Thanks to all of the loyal readers and those of you who comment for making this blog a success.  We do this for you guys.

Also, thanks to Steve for inviting me to take part in gayconservative.  This is a great site.  Though Steve and I have differing perspectives on some issues, it only goes to show that there actually is a great deal of rich diversity among conservatives and the GOP.  Steve has done a fantastic job building and maintaining this forum. In short:  Steve, you’re a peach..hehe.  Love ya guy!

Merry Christmas to all of you.  Remember the reason for the season.  Despite the commercialism (which we all take part in as good capitalists), it all comes down to family, friends and a child who was born over 2000 years ago to offer mankind salvation, wisdom and an invitation for eternal residence at the side of our Creator.  I hope we all keep this in perspective as we celebrate the holiday season.

Can We Take Another Hissy Fit?

You know the old saying “if you can’t beat em….”

I’m amazed everytime the NY Times decides to “expose” the administration by pointing out its intent to protect American citizens – a real act of treason to liberals.  Alberto Gonzales and Harriet Miers among others are being called in to explain CIA videotapes being destroyed which contained the interrogation of two AlQueda suspects.  May I ask, what the hell does this have to do with any of us anyway?  As long as we are being kept safe from American-slaughter religious fanatics, should any of us care of the CIA’s procedures?

To those out there who will lose sleep over this, here is a nice Christmas present from me to you.  Chances are the same people screaming bloody murder over the above will be screaming about this video:

A New Reason to Love the Saudis

Just for my sweet friend, Phil whom I love more than life itself:

Saudi king pardons rape victim

Though he still believes the sentences in the case were fair and while he is not changing the law, he acted in the interest of the people.

All along, I believed that the sentence was harsh.  However; I still believe it is the United States duty to butt out of international law when other countries serve us no threat.  Furthermore; I was sure the girl was going to get pardoned and knew that opportunists like Huckabee took it upon themselves to make light of this one isolated incident to fall into the liberal trap of pitting us up against a strong ally.

In the end, we’re all happy I suppose.

Democrat-Stalkers Sticking to the Issues

This has been going on for about two years now where Ann Coulter supposedly voted three blocks out of her district in Palm Beach Florida.  This was such big news that Coulter-stalkers like Dan Borchers actually had reason to scour public records in desperate search of Coulter’s address(es) and telephone number(s).

The real story of course came out when it was reported that Coulter had purposely given a false address because she has had trouble with Borchers in the past with other stalking-like incidents.

Other Coulter-stalkers like Brad Friedman and authors of pieces like this literally befriended this loser who swears up and down that he’s a Republican.  Funny, the only issue we keep hearing out of him is “Ann Coulter.”

Bottom line: Coulter did not vote more than once.  There was no proof of intent as was reported earlier on, and liberals really have very little to say on issues that are important to real Americans.

Unless of course Ann Coulter is an issue Americans are taking to the polls.  But I’d say that outside of the ones mentioned above, nobody gives a rat’s ass.

Lost My Ass (But Had a Great Time!)

vegas.jpg

Hi All!

Missed Everyone!  Just got back from Vegas last night and man did we have a blast.  Had so much going on this week: the rodeo, the Spice Girls, and the fights.

I hit some great jackpots the first night we arrived but; by yesterday, dumped it all back in PLUS a lot more.

Oh well, I expected it and I really enjoyed myself.

Free Them Mr. President

It’s a sad state of affairs that a Democrat has to spearhead a move to free these guys.  Two border agents in Texas have been sentenced to long prison terms for shooting at a guy crossing the border.  But read this.  The dude that they shot at was a drug smuggler.  The government offered the idiot immunity to testify against the agents, and….guess what?????

Aldrete-Davila, 27, was arrested last month by U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration agents in El Paso on a federal grand-jury indictment charging him with conspiracy and possession with the intent to distribute marijuana. The indictment said he brought a second load of 752 pounds of marijuana into the U.S. in October 2005, eight months after he had been shot by the agents.

He came back again with drugs!!! This imbecile is a drug smuggler, and two of our border agents are in jail for 10+ years for shooting him in the ass.  What the bloody hell???  This prosecutor, Sutton, should be disbarred and sent to China or something.  I’m just in total amazement that this BS is even an issue.

The US government won’t do what is required to protect our borders from illegal immigrants.  That’s bad enough.  But then they send our border agents to jail for shooting dumbass, border-crossing, drug-smuggling idiots.  I am beginning to lose faith in our government altogether.

Thank you, Rep. Delahunt (A DEM!!!!) for taking action to see that these agents are acquitted.  Shame on you GW for not taking the step yourself.  I have backed our President.  I have stood behind him when he was not a popular guy, but if he does not absolve these two gentlemen, then consider me “fed up.”  This a miscarriage of justice.

A Great One Passes

hyde-sm.jpg

Henry Hyde, a former GOP Representative from Illinois passed away Thursday at the age of 83.  The Congressman from Illinois was a true gentleman (read Fred Barnes’ tribute).  In a highly charged partisan world that is Washington, DC, Hyde was admired and revered by Republicans and Democrats alike.  He may well be one of the last great statesmen.

Henry Hyde was and is one of my heros.  He was a relentless pro-life crusader.  His primary concern was for the unborn.  His achievements in domestic and foreign politics are many, but his defense of unborn children will forever be his legacy.

Rep. Hyde was never mean, abrasive or overly confrontational.  He spoke his mind clearly but never attacked others personally.  Even in his leading role as a House prosecutor during the Clinton impeachment trial, Hyde stayed above the fray of partisanship and distinguished himself.  He was, in every sense of the word, a gentleman.  He will be missed.  I, for one, hope that there will be others in his tradition serving the American people.  Henry Hyde is a legendary figure in American politics and will be missed immensely.

Rest in peace, Mr. Hyde. You will be met in heaven by a grateful Saviour who will one day introduce you to the many souls that your policies saved from senseless murder.  Mr. Hyde….you are a great one. God bless you.
