More From China

I really appreciated this editorial from the Washington Times. I appreciate most editorials from the Washington Times.  Nevertheless, this one captures a great deal of my own sentiment regarding China as host of the 2008 Olympics.

AS CHINA’S COMMUNIST leadership conceived it, this year’s Olympic Games were to mark the country’s debut as a global power, with a booming economy and rapidly modernizing society. Instead, it’s beginning to look as though the Games could become a showcase for violent repression, censorship and political persecution by a regime that has failed to rise above the level of police state. Though they present themselves as worldly and reformist, President Hu Jintao and his leadership group seem unable to grasp how the policies they have pursued in recent months have undermined the honor of staging the Olympics and risk destroying China’s international prestige.

Of course, we all know that this a facade.  French President, Nicolas Sarkozy, has mentioned the possibility of boycotting the opening ceremonies.  Even the EU is taking up the matter of a full boycott in response to the events in Tibet.  Strange that Europe should display more gumption than the US in such matters.

I hate to sound wishy-washy.  Sometime I really love George W., but sometimes he really frustrates me.  His embrace of Putin and his refusal to come out stronger against the latest Chinese brutality really leave me speechless.

Unfortunately, the Chinese leadership may have been encouraged by Western leaders — including President Bush — to believe it could maintain these policies and still hold a successful Olympics. Though French President Nicolas Sarkozy has now said publicly that he would not rule out boycotting the opening ceremony in Beijing in response to the repression in Tibet, Mr. Bush has not altered his ill-considered statement that he would attend the games as “a sports fan.” Yesterday, the White House reiterated that the president plans to attend the opening ceremony, gratuitously signaling to Mr. Hu that he need not fear that imprisoning dissidents or beating Tibetan monks will affect even that most political of Olympic events.

I guess it’s easy for me to sit here and hope against hope that the President will make stronger statements against the thugs in Beijing and Moscow.  I understand the political game.  But how long do you let it go on, and where do you draw the line in the sand?  Reagan didn’t feel the need to appease the USSR, and he brought it down.  What has changed that we are not able to do this?  Maybe the fact that China has an economic stranglehold on the US?

I have a feeling that explains it, but eventually it will come to blows.  Anyone who believes that China and the US are not on a collision course is seriously deluding themselves.  The question is “when”, not “if.”  I don’t feel that we do ourselves any good by continuing to enable the police state in Beijing.  Events as prestigious as the Olympics only lend credibility to this dictatorship and give them increased economic pull on the global stage.

At some point, someone is going to have to ask the question – “When is enough, enough?”  All we are doing at this point by fostering this communist atrocity is making it stronger -day by day.  We feed it our dollars and euros and pounds.  We’re only making things more difficult for ourselves in the future.  For – if anyone believes that the engagement of China, so notably embraced by Richard Nixon, is going to work – they are sorely wrong.  Only guts, fortitude and resolve will solve the China problem.

At this point – we’ve almost guaranteed the fact that the China resolution won’t be pretty.  Why continue to make it worse?

Free Tibet

For those of you who don’t know – I am an avid human rights guy.  And this BS in Tibet is pissing me off.  Chinese claims to Tibet are non-existent.  Tibet was an independent region for centuries.  Mao’s seizure of this proud nation and the subsequent planned infiltration of the region by Han Chinese is reprehensible.

Now we have the protests.

China’s repression of Tibetans is yet another reminder of the fact that the Chinese government is a brutal bunch of thugs.  Why the hell GW would even show up at the Olympic ceremonies is beyond me.  W has championed human rights and has made good on the rhetoric for the most part.  But it is unconscionable for the President to do anything that would act as an endorsement of this disgusting regime.

The IOC was wrong to award the Olympics to Beijing in the first place.  Why reward despots?  I personally feel that a boycott of the Olympics by the US is warranted; however, I know that won’t happen.  We continue to kowtow to China under the auspice of “engagement.”  When will we recognize this dictatorship for what it really is, and stand with the oppressed masses against this abomination?

Rabbi Brutally Attacked by Muslims in New York

And here liberals thought that it was Ann Coulter’s comments on Biblical Fact that was dangerous.

Let’s see if the media spends as much time factually reporting this heinous crime as they did on misconstruing a comment about Jews being perfected.

What To Do?

Attorney General, Michael Mukasey, brings up a good point.

U.S. Attorney General Michael Mukasey said Friday he hopes the men charged with participating in the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks are not executed if found guilty to avoid making martyrs of them.

Mukasey said many terrorists want to be martyrs and that by sentencing them to death, U.S. authorities risk granting those wishes. He made the comments while answering a question after a talk at the London School of Economics.

However, Mukasey said that the punishment would be fitting if the accused are convicted.

“One of them at least is proud enough of it to have written to his wife that he thinks he is innocent because it was only 3,000 (people who died in the attacks),” he said. “If those are not poster children for the death penalty I don’t know who is.”

Still, Mukasey said he leans against the death penalty in this case because “many of them want to be martyrs.”

Even as prisoners, these guys make it hard for us.  I want to see them fry.  No.  I want to see them drawn and quartered.  Ever seen “Braveheart?”  I was infuriated about the fate 0f William Wallace (Mel Gibson).  But that fate would be better suited for these Islamofascist killers.

But, to make them martyrs?  What a conundrum.

Nah.

Screw it.

Kill ‘em.

They can be martyrs in their own minds.  But there will be lots of satisfied folks in NYC and across the nation.  Their martyrdom doesn’t mean sh*t to me.  Their god doesn’t exist anyway.  To Hell with them.

Fact or Fiction? Appauling Nonetheless

In scanning the latest news articles on Iraq, I stumbled upon a few disturbing articles regarding U.S. Soldiers hurting animals in Iraq.  One makes light of a video with an alleged Marine throwing an alleged real puppy off of a cliff.  The other shows U.S. Soldiers purposely throwing rocks at a wounded dog.

Sickening as it is, these videos are being posted by liberals and liberals of course are using this as part of the “bad news from Iraq” fest they love to keep spewing.

As an animal lover, it’s hard to watch these and imagine if indeed these are real American soldiers and if indeed these videos have not been mocked up somewhere by a group funded by rich and powerful liberals.

I’m curious as to AirForceWife’s opinion of this.  These videos almost bring tears to my eyes and fill me with anger as I am totally unable to argue back against the liberals bashing these troops who are adding this to their “list of things Americans denounce in Iraq.”

An article in the Sun Times states that “Military officials are investigating” the video.

These people cannot represent our troops and must be punished if indeed these videos are true.

A Good Question

I am an avid supporter of our efforts in Iraq, but an article on CNN.com brought to light a good question about the Iraqi government.

Two senators are asking congressional investigators to look at Iraq’s oil revenues and see if the war-ravaged nation can pay for its own reconstruction, an effort that has been bankrolled to this point mostly by U.S. taxpayers.

Carl Levin, D-Michigan, and John Warner, R-Virginia, said in their Friday letter to the Government Accountability Office that Iraq has “tremendous resources” in banks worldwide but is doing little to improve security and reconstruction efforts.

Iraqi officials did not immediately respond to the senators’ allegations.

Sounds a little harsh until you consider the facts….

Using numbers from the U.S. State Department and Iraqi Oil Ministry, the senators said Iraq hopes to produce 2.2 million barrels of oil a day this year. Weekly averages suggest that the number has climbed as high as 2.51 million barrels a day.

That kind of oil production could earn Iraq a projected $56.4 billion this year, an estimate the senators say is low given the rising cost of crude.

“In essence, we believe that Iraq will accrue at least $100.0 billion in oil revenues in 2007 and 2008,” the letter said.

It added, “Our conversations with both Iraqis and Americans during our frequent visits to Iraq, as well as official government and unofficial media reports, have convinced us that the Iraqi government is not doing nearly enough to provide essential services and improve the quality of life of its citizens.”

I’m a little frustrated about paying $3.10 a gallon at the pump to fuel my car.  I guess that has tainted my view of this.  But I have always been a little critical of the Iraqi government’s efforts to secure their nation with less US assistance in terms of providing for their own security and providing basic services for their people.

I am happy to help the Iraqis militarily.  We should not leave Iraq until the job is done, but it’s time to let go of the handlebars sometimes  and let them start to pedal on their own.  If Iraq were to start using some of that vast oil wealth, they could decrease the US taxpayer burden.  I know that would make our efforts in Iraq a lot more palatable to many Americans.  I believe it is time to start the weaning process.

They Hear What We Say

Don’t the Democrats understand?  When they run around bashing the United States in order to secure a path for their own elections or reelections, they do so at a risk.  Take these comments from Libyan President, Muammar Qadaffi (at least that’s how it is spelled this month).  These are excerpts from his speech.

“I’ve seen that in America, a candidate who wants people to vote for him keeps talking about change,” Qaddafi said earlier this week in a televised address on Libyan TV, an obvious reference to Barack Obama.

“They all keep saying ‘change, change,’ ” he continued, adding Hillary Clinton to his reference. “They want to change America and its current political system. They want to make a change in their lives. They say their system is a failure, that their government is a failure, and that their elections are a failure.”

Failure?  The comments made by the Dems are being interpreted by this fourth-rate dictator as admissions of the failure of the American way!  Don’t think he’s the only one who thinks this way.  Qadaffi isn’t even the most extreme of the Middle East thugs.

I wonder when American voters will wake up and realize that the way to make this nation better is not to tear it down.  While Democrats blame Bush for our bad image overseas, maybe they ought to look at their own rhetoric.  They are the ones making the United States look weak and/or imperialistic.  Rather than standing up for this nation and against tyranny, the libs are portraying us as being more evil than that evil which we must fight against around the globe.

This was just a perfect illustration and more food for thought.

Who IS Barack Obama?

Calling all fact-checkers!

The following is an e-mail received from a client.  Since it’s tax time, I’m buried at my desk until 1am everynight – though I do sneak on for a few minutes in the evening to see if anything’s going on.  ;-)

Look into it….prove it right or wrong:

Very interesting and something that should

Be considered in your choice.

If you do not ever forward anything else,

please forward this to all your contacts….

this is very scary to think of what lies ahead

Of us here in our own United States …

better heed this and pray about it and share it.

We checked this out on ‘ snopes.com‘.

It is factual.  (I checked anyway and some IS TRUE!)

Check for yourself.

Who is Barack Obama?

Probable U. S. presidential candidate,

Barack Hussein Obama was born in

Honolulu , Hawaii , to Barack Hussein

Obama, Sr., a black MUSLIM from

Nyangoma-Kogel , Kenya and

Ann Dunham, a white ATHEIST from
Wichita , Kansas .

Obama’s parents met at the University

of Hawaii . When Obama was two years

old, his parents divorced.

His father returned to Kenya . His mother

the n married Lolo Soetoro, a RADICAL

Muslim from Indonesia.?

When Obama was 6 years old, the family

relocate to Indonesia . Obama attended a

MUSLIM school in Jakarta .

He also spent two years in a Catholic school.

Obama takes great care to conceal the fact

that he is a Muslim. He is quick to point out

that,

‘He was once a Muslim, but that he also

attended Catholic school.’

Obama’s political handlers are attempting

to make it appear that that he is not a radical.

Obama’s introduction to Islam came via his

father, and that this influence was temporary

at best. In reality, the senior Obama returned

to Kenya soon after the divorce, and never

again had any direct influence over his son’s

education.

Lolo Soetoro, the second husband of Obama’s

mother, Ann Dunham, introduced his stepson

to Islam. Obama was enroll ed in a Wahabi school

in Jakarta .

Wahabism is the RADICAL teaching that is

followed by the Muslim terrorists who are now

waging Jihad against the western world.

Since it is politically expedient to be a CHRISTIAN when seeking major public office in the United

States , Barack Hussein Obama has joined
the United Church of Christ in an attempt to

downplay his Muslim background.

ALSO, keep in mind that when he was sworn

into office he DID NOT use the Holy Bible, but

instead the Koran.

Barack Hussein Obama will NOT recite the

Pledge of Allegiance nor will he show any

reverence for our flag.

While others place their hands over their

hearts, Obama turns his back to the flag

and slouches.

Let us all remain alert concerning Obama’s

expected presidential candidacy.

The Muslims have said they plan on destroying

t he US from the inside out, what better way to

start than at the highest level – through the

President of the United States , one of their own!!!!

Please forward to everyone you know.

Would you want this man leading our country?

McCain’s Second Sign of Conservative Reformation

Some Who Fight for McCain Are Fighting Against McCain-Feingold

Boy, I love Democracy!

McCain’s First Sign of Conservative Reformation

Hey, I just may end up liking this guy afterall!  As Tuesday ended and as Hillary took the states of Texas, Ohio, and Rhode Island, a fabulous impartial account was released tonight by the AP – of course doing its duty in reporting:

Hillary Rodham Clinton scored comeback primary wins in Ohio, Texas and Rhode Island Tuesday night, denting Barack Obama‘s delegate lead in a riveting Democratic presidential race. Arizona Sen. John McCain, an unflinching supporter of the war in Iraq, clinched the Republican nomination.

Taking into account the article was supposed to be informing Americans of Tuesday’s results, the same author would have reported on FDR’s death in the following manner:

FDR, an unflinching supporter of carpet-bombing german cities, died.

Suddenly, McCain is an “unflinching supporter of the war in Iraq” and no longer a “maverick.”  I wonder why; up until now, the mainstream media never referred to him as an “unflinching supporter of the war in Iraq.”

Maybe they just weren’t paying attention?  Or maybe we weren’t.

In any case, part two of McCain’s recovery could be an excellent choice of a VP that the press will say horrible things about.

The rest of the steps could include apologizing for McCain-Feingold, denouncing amnesty for any illegal, fight to save Guantanamo, and not harp about interrogation methods of terrorists.

We shall see, Phil.  ;-)
