Gay Conservative

So far, several celebrities have voiced their opinion of Sarah Palin as McCain’s VP pick.  As we should have expected, I guess, it’s not pretty.  It’s amazing to me just how defensive they were about Hillary when she was up for the Democratic nod because she’s a woman.  When the woman is a conservative Republican, though, it’s a different story!

Candace Bergen said the idea of Palin as VP was “frightening.”  The hosts of The View, including Whoopi Goldberg, have castigated Palin at every turn, spewing rumor after rumor and refusing in most cases to apologize and make a retraction after the rumors are soundly debunked.  Most recently, pretty-boy Matt Damon said it would be like “a bad Disney movie.”  When asked to elaborate, he said, “you do the actuary tables, there’s a one out of three chance, if not more, that McCain doesn’t survive his first term, and it’ll be President Palin.  It’s like a really bad Disney movie, ‘The Hockey Mom.’  ‘Oh, I’m just a hockey mom from Alaska!’ and she’s President.  She’s facing down Vladimir Putin and using the folksy stuff she learned at the hockey rink.  It’s absurd!”

Uh…Matt…how much less absurd is the idea that Barack Obama’s “experience” will do him any better?  Obama launched his career with the help of home-grown terrorist Bill Ayers, then conducted his campaign with money donated by slumlord and powermonger Tony Rezko and his ilk (including Iraqi billionaire Nadhmi Auchi, who was a member of Saddam’s Baath party and sold him high-quality military equipment and was later involved in the scandal-ridden Oil-for-Food program).  Both Auchi and Rezko have been convicted of fraud, and Rezko is about to go on trial AGAIN for even more fraud!  But hey, Matt’s not worried about the company Barack keeps.  He’s The One, he preaches “change” and he’s not a Republican.  What more could a rich actor wish for in a Presidential candidate?

Exactly what qualifies Matt Damon–or any of these other high-society, low-class celebrities–to pass judgment on any candidate?  Their beliefs?  If all it took was a strong belief to make one an expert, I’d be raking in the bucks with my writing.  And why do we put so much stock in what these adult brats have to say?  Why is it so important?  They never give unbiased opinions.  Everything with them, like all liberals, is based on emotions.
