Day November 5, 2008

A Little Political Morphine from Ann Coulter

See, this is why I love Ann Coulter.  Her newly released column tonight gives us the shots we need, a few of my favorite lines:

On winners and losers:

The winner, of course, is Obama, who must be excited because now he can start hanging out in public with Bill Ayers and Rev. Jeremiah Wright again. John McCain is a winner because he can resume buying more houses.

And we’re all winners because we will never again have to hear McCain say, “my friends.”

On reasons why McCain was a failing candidate:

Republicans lost this presidential election, and I don’t blame the messenger; I blame the message. How could Republicans go after B. Hussein Obama (as he is now known) on planning to bankrupt the coal companies when McCain supports the exact same cap and trade policies and earnestly believes in global warming?

How could we go after Obama for his illegal alien aunt and for supporting driver’s licenses for illegal aliens when McCain fanatically pushed amnesty along with his good friend Teddy Kennedy?

How could we go after Obama for Jeremiah Wright when McCain denounced any Republicans who did so?

How could we go after Obama for planning to hike taxes on the “rich,” when McCain was the only Republican to vote against both of Bush’s tax cuts on the grounds that they were tax cuts for the rich?

And why should Republican activists slave away working for McCain when he has personally, viciously attacked: John O’Neill and the Swift Boat Veterans, National Right to Life director Doug Johnson, evangelical pastors Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson and John Hagee, various conservative talk radio hosts, the Tennessee Republican Party and on and on and on?

And………..

How many times do we have to run this experiment before Republican primary voters learn that “moderate,” “independent,” “maverick” Republicans never win, and right-wing Republicans never lose?

Indeed, the only good thing about McCain is that he gave us a genuine conservative, Sarah Palin. He’s like one of those insects that lives just long enough to reproduce so that the species can survive. That’s why a lot of us are referring to Sarah as “The One” these days.

Like Sarah Connor in “The Terminator,” Sarah Palin is destined to give birth to a new movement. That’s why the Democrats are trying to kill her.

And finally:

For now, we have a new president-elect. In the spirit of reaching across the aisle, we owe it to the Democrats to show their president the exact same kind of respect and loyalty that they have shown our recent Republican president.

Starting tomorrow, if not sooner.

It’s a classic column.  Believe it or not, there is still plenty more to chuckle at and feel a true understanding among fogged and sad Republican minds today.

What Have We Done?

A great deal was decided yesterday.  I’m not sure the vast majority of the country quite realizes the new gravity of our situation.  I’m likely the only one in my little gay family here in Arizona that voted for John McCain, and likely the only one who understands enough of history to realize what we’re facing.  That’s not a dog on my friends, because even though we wholeheartedly disagree I still love them all dearly; what’s far scarier than that is the fact that there are millions upon millions who, unlike my friends, had absolutely no clue why they wanted to vote for Obama, except for the fact that they wanted change.

But what change have we just voted for?  In 1959, a young upstart led his guerilla army into Havana, Cuba and overthrew the government.  Fidel Castro assumed power, promising change and prosperity without ever making concrete plans known to the public.  Before they knew it, the public wasn’t allowed to speak freely and the government controlled every facet of life, including the media.  The slightest public disagreement could land a Cuban in squalid prison conditions without a trial.  Sure, everyone had something.  But even to this day, in that society (as well as in China) one group does all the work and the lazy ones still get a share.  All this was Castro’s promised “change.”

Barack Obama has already admitted a desire to affect socialist ideals in American society.  When the now-infamous Joe the Plumber forced him to admit, “when you spread the wealth around, it’s good for everybody,” not only was he admitting a firm belief in wealth redistribution, but in the days that followed he openly castigated the major news outlets involved in spreading the story.  He banned them from his campaign jet and refused to give interviews to them ever again.  If this is a precursor to what we can expect during his presidency (including both his and Nancy Pelosi’s vocalized desire to bring back the fairness doctrine, essentially gutting the First Amendment freedom of speech), then maybe we deserve it.

Maybe we deserve four years of unadulterated liberal assault on our Constitutional freedoms.  Maybe the overwhelming millions who voted for any change regardless of reality will wake up the first time we’re attacked again, which I predict will happen within the first year of Obama’s presidency.  If not then, hopefully they’ll wake up after the second attack, which will be inevitable because Obama will do exactly what he promises–he’ll try to be diplomatic with murdering terrorists who believe it is their mandate from God to kill all the infidels of the world.

Maybe Steve is right, but if he is, and McCain’s liberal policies would have only made things worse, I still think Hillary Clinton is far less scary than Barack Obama.  I feel a dread as though we’re dancing our way to our destruction with smiles on our faces and nary a clue, happy all the while.  I’ve told my friends that I hope I’m wrong, and I don’t think they understand just how badly I’m hanging on to that hope.  For now, while I’m still free to say it, I’m going to take a page out of the Democrat playbook:

He’s NOT my president, nor will he ever be.

(PS: watch out this weekend for my first-ever vidblog.  I’ve got some choice words for the gay community’s role in this disaster, and I’m done being nice.)

One Thing Michelle Missed

I was happy to hear Rush today for a bit because, as I predicted, we would start getting the true analysis of what went wrong for us.  Then, I read Michelle Malkin’s answer to all the pity e-mails she’s been getting regarding last night’s results.

She was right.  We simply stand for what we believe in and scream from the rooftops our opposition to basically everything Obama will stand for.  Simple enough, right?

Well there’s one part that I wish she would have embellished on (perhaps Ann Coulter’s column released tonight will touch on it as I heard her on talk radio this morning).  We realize we can truly never trust the media ever again.

We learn to recognize the warning signs like the NY Times who referred to McCain many times as a “maverick” before the primary.  Then, we call them out on it.

We learn our lessons and never forget them.  One major lesson Americans keep forgetting is that we are asking for major Democratic wins in possible landslide victories (like the one last night) when we run a mild Republican as opposed to a true conservative.

Barry Goldwater lost in a huge defeat.  Bob Dole lost in a defeat.  And McCain was rejected by America as well.  In fact, McCain would have done much worse had it not been for Sarah Palin.

Bush did three great things for our country.  First, he gave us tax cuts.  Secondly, he did not cave into Democrat whining when putting forth his national security or domestic policies which kept us safe.  Then, we got a couple of great Supreme Court Justices out of it.  But, he also did some very horrible things as well.  These include massive spending, support of amnesty, and support of the bailout.

These things were also supported by John McCain.  In addition, he threw in McCain-Feingold to boot.

I thank GW Bush for keeping me safe.

I thank John McCain for serving us in Vietnam and for Sarah Palin.

But, as conservatives, I am ready for both of them to be gone.

Next time, the media will not be selecting our candidate for us.  It is time many of us come together and work to make Sarah Palin our front-runner for 2012, a real conservative as her running mate, and a strict selection of strong conservatives to run for Congress.

You cannot sell out conservative ideals, Christians, and fiscal conservatives without losing an election in a landslide and carrying an “R” at the end of your name.

Finally, you thank God we didn’t have McCain who would have worked hard to appease the insane left in Congress, leading us to further failure and giving us two terms of Hillary landslides once the country felt the disaster.  The only thing is, Republicans would have been blamed.

This way; at least, the country feels disasters under liberals in both the Executive and Legislative branches.  Then we pounce back with Palin in 2012.

Until then, we support eachother and pull through it.
