I think we have many rising stars in the party who are waiting for the right moment to step it up. Many good names have been mentioned and I think many more are to come.

Tom – Which voters?

My congressional district went 76% for Obama and 24% for McCain. In the Congressional race in my district, the result was similar. On the state Assembly race, a similar result happened as well.

It is clear Republicans in my district stayed home. We should have captured 40% of the vote across the ballot. If not that, then we should have had better numbers in the Congressional and state race.

I’ve never seen Republicans in my district get slammed so hard.

The Exit Poll people were probably Democrats over Republicans by a significant margin.

Tom, actual history backs up the belief.

No moderates ever win with regard to Republicans.

McCain = Goldwater = Dole = Huge Losses.

You cannot sell out true conservative and expect to win when you’re running as a Republican.

Sarah Palin is loved within the base enought o provide the energy required. They operated on one half of Obama’s campaign budget. The people never got a chance to know her properly because too much time was spent attacking her for her wardrobe or her daughter or her resemblance to Tina Fey.

Democrats HATE her so of course some of those exit polls were accurate. But you don’t understand, when you are a Republican you should not be getting rave reviews by Democrats or anyone in the media outside of Sean Hannity, LOL.

I happened across your blog quite by accident. I’m a liberal – and just had one thing that everyone here might want to consider.

Forget Sarah Palin. If Palin is the face of the conservative movement you are going to have a ton of obstacles to overcome – and I don’t think she’s the gal that’s going to do it.

In all seriousness consaervatives should be looking south at Louisiana – Bobby Jindal should be at the top of everyone’s list.

I’m going for Jindal. I like him and by 2012 he will be ready to be President. For the VP I would go with Romney or Steele but you never know who else will pop up by then. I did like Palin but I would send her to the senate after her time in Alaska. I can’t say I would have a problem with Palin as the President but I like Jindal a lot more and putting her back on the VP ticket in 2012 might not go over well.

The Gov. of Minnesota was on TV yesterday and he spoke well. I think he is one great possibility in 2012.

We could also amend the U.S. Constitution so Arnold can run. Arnold has done a great job in CA.

I definitely agree with you on the liberal disaster comment. The American people will have to endure 4 years of another Jimmy Carter, they’ll learn their lesson, and we’ll pounce back with “Reagan in a dress”.

Peter, Palin’s a great conservative who has tangible results of success to back her up. Plus, I am sure she will achieve more in 4 years.

Also, we have folks like Dunkin Hunter and Mitt Romney.

We’ll be good….plus Palin is still not tainted by Washington.

But is Sarah Palin the “new blood” the GOP needs so badly? Obama and Bill Clinton roared onto the scene and captured everyone’s attention. Can Palin do that again, or is she “damaged goods” already? If not Palin, who is on the horizon? Jindal? Certainly no one currently in DC…?

I hope the GOP gets a clue and quick, or another conservative party emerges, as some have suggested.
