Some Hope For The GOP

The GOP will have to make some fundamental changes in order to recapture control of Congress.  But there might be another factor working in the GOP’s favor – demographics.  This is from a blog featured in the hometown paper (Fort Worth Star Telegram).

As usual, New England’s loss is Texas’ gain.

Election Data Systems, a political demographics consulting firm, reports that updated census figures from July show that Texas is due three extra seats in the US House, and that will rise to four seats by the time apportionment happens in 2010.

The losers: Iowa, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, and Pennsylvania.

Texas will gain more members in the House than any other state, according to the report. Four other states – Florida, Georgia, Nevada, and Utah – would each gain a seat and Arizona would likely nab two. Depending on how population trends move in the next two years, Oregon, North Carolina and South Carolina might get extra seats too.

Notice all of the Southern states there (and Utah)?  That could be really good news for GOP chances in Congress.  Naturally, it will all depend on the areas within the various states that gain seats.  That will ultimately lead to issues of redistricting and charges of gerrymandering.  Not sure how this will work out, but it bodes well in that there are new House seats being allotted to traditionally GOP states.

We gotta take ‘em where we can get ‘em.

Merry Christmas All!!!

Ha!  I logged on this afternoon fully expecting that Mel or Steve might have beaten me to the punch in wishing all of our gayconservative.org family a Merry Christmas.  I was shocked to see that I would be first…..heh!

So, let me first start by saying Merry CHRISTmas.  Feel free to say it.  Not “Happy Holidays” or such, but Merry Christmas.  And I do wish all of our non-Christian friends a Happy Hannukah, Kwanza or whatever else.  No need to leave anyone out.  But I celebrate December 25th to commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ.  And I shouldn’t feel ashamed to say it.  There are many reasons to celebrate this time of year.

Thank you to all of our readers.  And thanks to all of you (especially Mel and Steve) who have been patient and supportive while I have been somewhat absent recently.  I feel like this is a mix of Thanksgiving and Christmas.  I’m always reflective as we move into the new year, and that thought always goes towards my friends and family.  I feel like the folks here at gayconservative.org are a mix of both.  You may literally be friends, but I will also dare to speak for Mel and Steve when I say – you are also part of our family as well.

So from me and my pup, Brodie, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. God bless all of you and may he keep you safe this holiday season.

From Iran, With Love

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the “president” of Iran, recorded a holiday message for the world to be played on Britain’s Channel 4. As is typical with him, Mr. Ahmindamoodforjihad spews lies and practically froths at the mouth in vague (but not unidentifiable) references to America:

“[If Jesus were alive, he would] stand with the people in opposition to bullying, ill-tempered and expansionist powers…If Christ were on earth today, undoubtedly He would hoist the banner of justice and love for humanity to oppose warmongers, occupiers, terrorists and bullies the world over.”

Say WHAT?!?

This is coming from the guy who called for the eradication of Israel. He also denied the holocaust as a “myth.”  I’m curious to know how he defines “warmongers, occupiers, terrorists and bullies” in light of what his religious police do:

Those are toilet watering cans, used by Iranians in place of toilet paper, and the morality police are requiring these guys to suck on them…while they whip and mercilessly beat them.  They’re later taken away and punished further.

Note to all the gay activists out there: THIS is what it looks like when you’re really stripped of your human rights!

What was their crime, you ask?  They were dressed in a manner deemed “too Western.”  Soccer jerseys are apparently a sin, as are blue jeans and shaggy hair.  I guess I’m going straight to hell!

Talk about the pot calling the kettle black.  Someone look at these pictures and tell me that diplomacy is going to work with these guys.  I dare you.

It’s a little hard to take this guy seriously when all he does is lie like a fake Persian rug.  Then again, we’re talking about a Christmas message from a Muslim who wanted to lay a wreath at Ground Zero in memory of the hijackers who murdered 3,000+ innocent people.  He doesn’t even believe in Christ!

Smack me on the wrist now.  Bad Mel!  How Islamophobic of you!
