Robert- you may find this hard, if not impossible to do, but there are people that can separate the person’s actions and beliefs from them. It is possible to “love the sinner and hate the sin”. Some folks can say that someone has worth because they are a person, and yet disagree with them.

And when it comes to Islam, they’re not nearly as afraid of us invading them as we think they are. They’ve been stopped so far by the fact that we’ve been keeping them busy and we’ve been giving ourselves the power to take them down without having to wait for search warrants and other such nonsense; all that is going to go away. There’s no way Obama is going to allow the Patriot Act to continue.

That’s the problem, John–Obama IS backing away from it. He’s ordered the immediate shutdown of all foreign CIA “black sites,” areas where people known to be involved with terrorist organizations such as Al Qaeda are interrogated and I imagine a lot of information is gathered. Obama has also declared that Gitmo is to be closed within a year. He has already sent the message that he’s backing down and we’re practically hopeless again.
