I'm with Steve on this one--all it'll take is one year of filing taxes and the Democrats will lose a lot of ground.

I couldn't believe, though, when I read the news that Steele agreed with DL Hughley that the GOP convention looked like "Nazi Germany" and that Rush was just an "entertainer." There is no quicker way to alienate the conservative base than to even jokingly agree with that kind of crap.

Thanks Steve. It's really important that we do this.

We had a couple of positive special election victories earlier this year. We need to keep it going. Our next challenges will be the off-year gubernatorial elections in Virginia and New Jersey. Things look good in Virginia. A little tougher but not impossible in NJ. I'll keep everyone posted.

The military doesn't question authority?

They do it all the time, I was in the military it's half of what they do all day. The only difference is when you do it there you had better have your facts and logic strait.

It's also why they have something called a lawful and unlawful order and you better know the difference.

"Speaking of which, charitable contributions and mortgage interest deductions will be wiped away from folks making over $250K per year.

One year of filing income taxes in 2010 is really all we will need."

No mortgage interest deduction? That's really smart; NOT. That will make the housing crisis worse. Part of the value in a home is the benefit of the mortgage interest deduction.

$250K per year? That might be big money in Utah or North Dakota. Where I live it is not.

What about people who experience an infrequent and not likely to repeat bump in income?

As I posted over the weekend, one of my friends earned through working $3,000,000 last year. He is in the scientific field. He normally earns about $100 to $200K per year depending on the bonus. He knows this $3,000,000 year is his "lottery win". It is not likely to happen again. Since he had to pay 42% out in taxes I bet he hopes it doesn't happen again.

So people who experience a one time or infrequent windfalll get slammed by the IRS? What a disincentive to earn more money.

I am sure Steve can backt this next one up. When taxes increase, noncompliance increases.

Even though political donations are not deductible.
