I disagree. I don’t see anything that tells Muslims to specifically kill westerners, and I sincerely don’t think it would be one of the three great religions if the Quran was an instruction manual for murder…

The Qur’an is not being abused by those who kill in the name of Allah. It’s actually being fulfilled. Big difference between that and the bible.

Christianity has indeed come a long way since reformations after the crusades, and hopefully Islam will undergo similar reformations…

You really can’t take the Qur’an out of context like that, because it really only says the same things over and over again. That’s why a huge swath of Mideast nations are ruled by Sharia. You cannot claim that Christianity today is anything like Islam. Islam has never changed (remember the Barbary Wars?). Christianity has, because it’s been found that the bible was being horribly abused by those who killed in the name of Jesus Christ.

There’s no way I can answer that. Can you answer the reasons some southern baptists see fit to test God by handling poisonous snakes? The fact of the matter is, there is no shortage of toxic behavior in religion, regardless of which religion. A caste system exists to this day in parts of India, with rape being a prevalent occurrence. The bible still instructs people to stone adulterers, and kill Mennonites, but the majority of church going Christians don’t take that stuff seriously, and I know that the same is true of Muslims going to mosque. Granted, the number of crazy Muslims far outnumbers the number of crazy Christians, but the woman’s point remains valid. We are quick to condemn the actions of those who have a foreign religion, while ignoring the faults in our own. There’s that plank in the eye again…

And really, if Islam is a peaceful religion, then why are rape VICTIMS sentenced to thirty lashes and a decade in prison in Sharia-run nations?

I’m not sure why you folks are getting the impression that the story is being ignored by the media. I heard about the story on CNN, before it made its way onto this site. I subsequently read about it on msnbc’s website, and saw an approximate five minute (which is pretty long for a news story) piece about it on MSNBC’s network. I mean, are we just upset that one story is capturing more of an interest than another? Because that’s just the nature of news. You can’t expect one news story to mean the same thing to everyone…

Yes they are. I am not happy about Dr. Tiller’s murder. I also lost a ton of respect for him after watching the national news yesterday. They profiled a woman who underwent a late term abortion. I was sickened by what she said.

She was pregnant. An ultrasound revealed her baby’s heart had three holes in it. At least three surgeries would be required to close these holes and her baby would likely die in 3 to 5 years. The quality of life for her baby would be miserable.

Rather than go through the pain of losing a child she opted for a late term abortion. These were her own words.

Excuse me? What about a heart transplant? Sometimes the doctors are wrong about 3-5 years. What about advances in medical technology?

I can’t believe Dr. Tiller performed this procedure. The mom’s life wasn’t in danger. If she really could not bear losing a child in 3 to 5 years then put the baby up for adoption. In my opinion this mom and dad took the easy way out and Dr. Tiller failed them as a physician.
