“Support our Murdering Troops!”

Sundays are usually the days when I tackle a larger issue that encompasses a lot of smaller incidents.  I usually like to title my blogs in such a way that I know they’ll grab everyone’s attention.  Since you’re here, I’m sure you’re interested in what I have to say.

I’ve long been a fan of P.O.D.  I was a fan before anyone else knew who they were.  Snuff the Punk was the first Christian rap/metal/thrash album I ever bought, and from there I bought every single piece of everything they sold.  StP came out so long ago that I bought it on casette tape.  It’s even autographed.  Now, however, it’s in the trash.  The band that I’ve followed and supported since I was in 7th grade has done something that has made me so angry that I will never, ever buy into anything they are involved with ever again.  I’ve even removed all of the songs I had on my iPod.  Why?  Check out these lyrics, from their song “Tell Me Why” on the new album:

The hate in your eyes
The lies on your tongue
A hand that kills the innocence who quit to do wrong
your belly is full
While we fight for what remains
The rich getting richer
While the poor become slaves

 We kill our own brothers
The truth is never told
If victory is freedome
Then the truth is untold
Surrender your soldiers
Like everyone else
If love is my religion
Don’t speak for myself

Tell me why
And why must we fight
And why must we kill in the name of what we think is right
And no more
No war
Is how do you know

In case you can’t tell, they’re singing about the current wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.  I guess I shouldn’t expect anything better from a band that emulates Bob Marley (they played a Marley song on the MTV “New Year’s Cover Song” several years ago).  But what astounds me is that they’re singing so openly against both the troops AND the mission.  It’s a trend that’s becoming more and more chic with musicians and moviemakers as times goes on.

P.O.D. are certainly not the first guys to ever put a piece of “art” out there that is anti-war and anti-military.  Recently, a lot of movies have been released as well that espouse the notion that the military is evil and our troops are murderers.  Redacted, Lions for Lambs and In the Valley of Elah paint an incomplete picture, as does Stop Loss.  Some of you may have never heard of these films–reason being, they’re not getting much popularity.  In part it gives me hope that the entertainment industry hasn’t completely hijacked reality the way they did back in the ’60’s over Vietnam.

War is unpopular.  Who in their right mind wants to go to war?  It doesn’t just cost money, it costs lives.  Those who come back alive are never the same.  The surviving relatives both at home and in the other affected countries are left with holes in their lives that will never be filled again.  War truly is hell, and nobody can honestly say that they enjoy it.

My favorite bands and artists aren’t politically involved.  They may support the troops, but they don’t make comments on the politics involved in the wars that our troops are fighting.  They don’t come out in support of one candidate or the other–they make their music and sell albums without the courtesy political involvement you see from Bon Jovi, P. Diddy (or whatever he’s calling himself now), Green Day and U2.  I have a very hard time enjoying music put out by someone who has actively campaigned for any political candidate.

My favorite movies have been written and filmed so that they reach the denouement without offering a guilt trip for not believing in some moral that the filmmaker wishes to foist on me.  We Were Soldiers tells the story of the battle at LZ X-Ray and ends without giving commentary on whether Vietnam was right or wrong.  Black Hawk Down does the same with the battle of Mogadishu in 1993.  The Brave One was even able to do it, much to my surprise, even though the filmmaker has the opportunity to push the anti-gun argument.

We do have the freedom to speak, the freedom to express how we feel and what we believe.  But the freedom to do a thing does not mean you should, wherein lies the question: should fame be used to popularize a political ideal?  I’m not suggesting we make it illegal, just to answer those who may accuse me of such nonsense.

I’m suggesting that we stop going to the movies, stop buying the albums or single songs on iTunes, and stop caring about those people in the entertainment industry who use their considerable clout to push their politics on the rest of us.  P.O.D. asks, “how do you know you’re right?”  I’d ask you the same question.  How do you know that you’re right and everyone else is wrong?  Are you really asking a question, or are you making an accusation?  How do you know that with your limited view of what’s going on that we’re not doing the right thing?  Have you talked to the people who are directly affected by this?  Did they tell you to beg us to stop killing them?

More importantly, are you acting out what you know intelligently to be right, or are you merely doing something to make yourself feel better?

I can say, beyond the shadow of a doubt, that America is NOT the cause of all the world’s ills.  That’s not what Code Pink, World Can’t Wait, and other such groups would have you believe, though.  They display pictures of dead bodies and call our troops murderers–then they turn around and say, “support our troops, bring them home!”  Hysterical politicians like Jack Murtha condemn our troops before the whole story is known, then refuse to retract their remarks when the truth is revealed.  And the entertainers who make more money than Allah latch onto these attitues, spewing them back at us in an effort to make us follow them.

Tell me why we should follow you.  How can you tell us to be individual when you’re demanding that we be like you?  You’re no better than those you’re pointing the finger at.

Where Does He Stand?

I can’t believe McCain actually had the balls to put this on his website.  I wonder if this will make it to TV ads.  This is brilliant.  Watch Obama waffle his way around the issue of Iraq.  This stuff is deadly if McCain uses it correctly beyond his friggin’ website.

This dude is a talking head for someone.  He has no convictions and nothing to stand on.  This is the biggest joke I have ever seen.  I want to know who is propping up Obama’s campaign and who is the force behind him.  He is a face who can read a teleprompter well.  I want to know who is feeding him the bullshit he spouts.

Obama: Testing the Waters of Patriotism

Yes, here we are in the middle of probably the most important conflict of our generation.

Yes, our awesome troops are proud of what they are doing.  Yes, they are succeeding.

I guess Obama has paid attention to the news lately – which means that he can at least read.  I’m sure he’s realizing that violence is at record lows in Iraq.  He’s realized the success and acknowledges the oil contracts we are bidding for now and what these can possibly mean to our economy.  Money, money, money – hey then we can invent new taxes!

Obama says Iraq trip can refine his policy

Right, after eight years of Bush getting harangued on a daily basis, Barack Obama does two things:

First, he actually admits he supports domestic spying (something even Alan Colmes is angry about).  Second, he slowly starts to “refine” his war position.

Oh sure, after all the work has been done by Bush and Rice, Democrats will try to find some way to take credit for the success this war brings, or will attempt sadly to begin a pathetic backtrack of their eight years of blatant idiocy and this time, they didn’t even have to run a phony war-hero to do it.

Hopefully when this begins, we will know better.  Start looking for the signs real soon.

Take this article as #1.  I can’t wait to hear Code Pink’s response to this incidentally.

Apparently Code Pink and the rest found out – yes, less than three hours after reading the first article above – we get a new “unchanged” Barack.

Thanks Barack, and thank Code Pink along with the crazy Koz kids and the moonbats from over at Air America radio that still believe the war was evil.  Silly me to think that Democrats (the elected ones) could ever claim credit for Iraq’s success.

Obama Wades Into Controversy With Iraq Comments

Liberals Supporting Oil Contracts with Iraq

Can you imagine if George W. Bush suggested this?

In light of the fact that four major oil companies have placed bids with Iraq to start refining oil; in an interview with Bill O’Reilly, Democratic Strategist-Veteran Bob Beckel said that we should draft a 100 year contract with Iraq since they now owe us.

Again – what would happen if Bush said that?

In any case, he also stated that if indeed we got contracts with Iraq, that not even Obama would pull troops out of Iraq.

Of course this is an act of appeasment to the environmentalists that want us to refrain from drilling in ANWR.

Great!  I actually think Beckel’s idea is pretty good.  Now, can we begin to get the Democrats to stick to issues they are good at like Global Warming hysteria and other things it will take Republicans 1,000 years to prove them wrong on?

Leave National Security to the Republicans.  Thanks!

Making Sense of the Phelps

I try not to make it a point to discuss things that seem silly.  I did comment on this horrid crowd of people at one time, but I always make it a point to thoroughly investigate and read up on people that make me very sick – which explains my dislike of Obama incidentally.  So, I read some articles, watched an entire documentary on the Westboro Baptist Church where they allowed a man to come in and spend a few days with them.  He got to know the entire family and other than the picket scenes where they go, they turned out to be a normal interacting family that were courteous to him.

They lost my interest though after a few things:  1.) When asked a series of questions, Fred Phelps (the originator) was condescending and rude, avoided answering questions, and basically told the fella he was doomed for hell.  2.) The fact he was so unlike them, yet, it was okay to bring him in sort of proved to me that this was a crusade of folks looking for media attention – and searching it out every chance they get.

Finally, tonight I stumbled upon three videos.  The first was a parody of “We Are the World” where the Phelps re-wrote the words to the same melody and re-titled it “God Hates the World.”

In the video – they depict everyone from Jerry Falwell, to the US Military, to President Bush as people doomed for hell.  What I found interesting was the comment sections where extremist atheist types commented on why Christianity is bad and why God is a crock.

It all began to make sense of why the popularity of these lunatics has increased so much.  Two things are served.  First, the apparent starving media whores they are – in search of their own riches – will do ANYTHING for attention.  Second, it gives the irreligious basis for denouncing religion and Christianity as a whole.  While Shirley Phelps-Roper remarks about “fags eating feces” it seems they are licking the behinds of the atheists and vice-versa.  (Sort of like Democrats in Congress that love for blacks and gays to continue feeling like victims to prey on both communities for votes.)

That, plus the fact that Christ died for all sins.  Can you imagine the poor Lord (according to the gospel of the Westboro Baptist Church) having these folks as His eternal company?  Talk about wrath!

Moving ahead, there was one final 2-part video that caught my attention of a street evangelist who called the Westboro Baptist Church over one of their latest websites entitled “God Hates Ireland!”  The fella was Irish and apparently had a bone to pick with Fred Phelps’ granddaughter, Sarah.  You can tell by her jumpiness that he gave her a biblical run for her money.

In ending, he makes an excellent point.  If God had this “wrath” as they proclaim, why would He selectively destroy one person, slowly, at a time?  Could he just wipe all the “bad people” out at once?

Part of their rationale explains that soldiers in Iraq are dying solely because of God’s wrath on America particularly for accepting homosexuality.  This doesn’t make sense on the basis that we lost 600,000 in the Civil War, 300,000 in WW2, and 60,000 in Vietnam.  We now know the war in Iraq is being won, the terrorists are running for cover, Iraq’s army is stronger than ever, violence has dropped massively to the point where even the media has stopped writing about the war since there is barely anything negative to report.

Everything accomplished by our great military, at the cost of 3,000 greatest Americans, and comparing this to the numbers of Americans lost in previous wars, wouldn’t this mean that God must be in a pretty good mood now?

They’re attention whores and liberals love them because it allows them to denounce Christianity.  Beware of future conversations with liberals as they use this in their arsenal of irreligious arguments.

Fact or Fiction? Appauling Nonetheless

In scanning the latest news articles on Iraq, I stumbled upon a few disturbing articles regarding U.S. Soldiers hurting animals in Iraq.  One makes light of a video with an alleged Marine throwing an alleged real puppy off of a cliff.  The other shows U.S. Soldiers purposely throwing rocks at a wounded dog.

Sickening as it is, these videos are being posted by liberals and liberals of course are using this as part of the “bad news from Iraq” fest they love to keep spewing.

As an animal lover, it’s hard to watch these and imagine if indeed these are real American soldiers and if indeed these videos have not been mocked up somewhere by a group funded by rich and powerful liberals.

I’m curious as to AirForceWife’s opinion of this.  These videos almost bring tears to my eyes and fill me with anger as I am totally unable to argue back against the liberals bashing these troops who are adding this to their “list of things Americans denounce in Iraq.”

An article in the Sun Times states that “Military officials are investigating” the video.

These people cannot represent our troops and must be punished if indeed these videos are true.

A Good Question

I am an avid supporter of our efforts in Iraq, but an article on CNN.com brought to light a good question about the Iraqi government.

Two senators are asking congressional investigators to look at Iraq’s oil revenues and see if the war-ravaged nation can pay for its own reconstruction, an effort that has been bankrolled to this point mostly by U.S. taxpayers.

Carl Levin, D-Michigan, and John Warner, R-Virginia, said in their Friday letter to the Government Accountability Office that Iraq has “tremendous resources” in banks worldwide but is doing little to improve security and reconstruction efforts.

Iraqi officials did not immediately respond to the senators’ allegations.

Sounds a little harsh until you consider the facts….

Using numbers from the U.S. State Department and Iraqi Oil Ministry, the senators said Iraq hopes to produce 2.2 million barrels of oil a day this year. Weekly averages suggest that the number has climbed as high as 2.51 million barrels a day.

That kind of oil production could earn Iraq a projected $56.4 billion this year, an estimate the senators say is low given the rising cost of crude.

“In essence, we believe that Iraq will accrue at least $100.0 billion in oil revenues in 2007 and 2008,” the letter said.

It added, “Our conversations with both Iraqis and Americans during our frequent visits to Iraq, as well as official government and unofficial media reports, have convinced us that the Iraqi government is not doing nearly enough to provide essential services and improve the quality of life of its citizens.”

I’m a little frustrated about paying $3.10 a gallon at the pump to fuel my car.  I guess that has tainted my view of this.  But I have always been a little critical of the Iraqi government’s efforts to secure their nation with less US assistance in terms of providing for their own security and providing basic services for their people.

I am happy to help the Iraqis militarily.  We should not leave Iraq until the job is done, but it’s time to let go of the handlebars sometimes  and let them start to pedal on their own.  If Iraq were to start using some of that vast oil wealth, they could decrease the US taxpayer burden.  I know that would make our efforts in Iraq a lot more palatable to many Americans.  I believe it is time to start the weaning process.

The Danger of Barack Obama

I couldn’t help but notice that in the last three debates, Barack Obama has indeed played the aggressor in constantly reminding America the bad choice Hillary made by voting to go to war.  He asserts that the war has “diverted attention from Afghanistan” and is happy to remind Americans that it was; after all, Al-Queda that killed 3,000 on our soil.

His views really are no different than Rosie O’Donnell’s or any other left-wing kook that seem to think that terrorism was born in the mountain-cracks of Afghanistan.  He doesn’t even acknowledge the 19+ years of attacks we endured from Muslim fanatics preceeding 9/11.  How do stop that problem?  Moreover; the last time I checked, Bush had rounded up most of Al-Queda’s top men.

Since McCain’s latest run-ins with the NY Times and the same Democrats in Congress he worked so hard to impress all those years with Bills like McCain-Feingold, some of you will be happy to know that I am warming up to him finally.  I just may support him if this keeps up – but my stipulation of a good V.P. still stands.

Still though, it’s important as Americans to watch all the debates – as I have been – even during this horrific tax season I am having.  And if you’re paying attention, you will see that 4 years of Obama will me fifty times worse than four years of Hillary.

The Year the NY Times Re-Defined Conservatism

It boggles me; really, why some continue to perceive John McCain as a viable choice to run this country.  Aside from being a ripe 71 years old who is not changing anytime soon, the man has as much ability to tick off the far-left as Teddy Kennedy.

He teamed up with Teddy Kennedy to create a Bill that would give amnesty to 20 million illegal aliens.  He seemed to not be too far apart from Kennedy’s positions that day.

He teamed up with Russ Feingold to create a Bill that reformed campaign finance.  Basically this rule wiped out anyone who was not a Hollywood star, a raging liberal, someone endorsed by Oprah, a Republican that liberals liked, or someone with instant name recognition like Hillary Clinton.  His positions weren’t that far off from Feingold’s that day.  (Come to think of it, perhaps we all know now why he supported Campaign Finance Reform in the first place!)

He teams up with congressional members of the far left to cry about dropping water down the noses of terrorists.

He teams up with members of the far left to denounce and demand that we shut down Guantanamo.

The NY Times loves him because he supports these crazy positions.

But one thing they love more is watching alleged Republicans call someone “far right” simply because we aren’t allowing the media to select our candidate for us.

McCain IS NOT G.O.P.  No matter his outcome, we lose the White House anyway because our principles will not be going with him.

All of the above positions that McCain has sold us out on are NOT positions that are important to the “far right!”  They are positions important to “Americans!”

Just get used to President Barack….

  • Much like McCain, he was funded by George Soros
  • Much like McCain, he opposes water-boarding
  • Much like McCain, he wants illegals to have amnesty
  • Much like McCain, he criticizes the war
  • Much like McCain, he wants to shut down Guantanamo
  • Much like McCain, he is loved by the NY Times

But unlike McCain, he was endorsed by Oprah.

That’s our future, people.

When Democrats don’t show as much fear of our Presidential candidate as we do with theirs – then we really may as not have a candidate to begin with.  We really have four bad years ahead of us.

Amazingly though, the same voters who supported Ronald Reagan and his positions 25 years ago are now members of the “far right.”

A category I will gladly rest in if that’s what it takes.

The NY Times can make that claim and anybody else can.

I am a Republican and McCain is not my candidate.

Who’s Stopping Him From Getting the Hell Out of Here, Anyway?

Obviously, this Kevin Sites “journalist” had nothing negative to write on the war in Iraq this week since even liberals now have to admit the success of the troop surge and the massive decline in violence.  It kills ’em, doesn’t it?  This week, he chooses to showcase an Arab with a chip on his shoulder about the FBI investigating him after having good reason to do so.

The Arab in question is 35-year old Hasan Elahi who was investigated by the FBI after the agency was given tip about a storage shed he had rented which was believed to have been filled with explosives and emptied right after 9/11.

After being investigated, Elahi was cleared of suspicion by the FBI.  Now; of course, he has a chip on his shoulder about it and has decided to videotape every single moment of his life and share it with us all on the web.  So; in other words, he’s violating his own “right to privacy” now.

In being interviewed by Kevin Sites, Elahi said:

We’re in this mentality where anyone who looks a little bit different is automatically a suspect.

NO!  The FBI was given a tip about a storage shed he had rented and merely followed through on it!

You know when Ann Coulter talked about the Jersey Girls and the old Democratic trick of using “victims” as spokespeople?  Someone now who was appalled to be a suspect now feels compelled to share every moment of his life with us on a website?  Do the words “attention whore” come to anyone else’s mind?

I’m not sure if he’s checked the statistics but 100% of attacks overseas and on our own soil were committed by Arabs.  100% of the men who committed 9/11 were Arab men.  If 100% of the people killed overseas and in the World Trade Center on September 11th were all Arabs, perhaps I wouldn’t feel the same way.  But all people are falling victim to this lunacy.  All people are suffering because of a certain colored skin that manages to remain at 100% when it comes to calculating those involved in attacks with bombs strapped to their chest and simultaneously shouting “Allah Akbar!”  If it were up to me, more of them would be investigated while standing in line at airports but they are not.

While I completely agree with the notion that the majority of Muslims are peaceful, the fact becomes less vivid every single day when someone like this chooses to showcase his “peace” by attacking the United States government because it’s doing everything in its power to protect 300 million lives!

Moreover; his claim of being looked at because of the way he looks is preposterous in his specific case!  The FBI were given a tip!  What did he expect them to do with it?

If overfed Polish boys were guilty of the same thing and someone had reason to believe I was a threat, I would expect nothing but the same thing that happened to Elahi.

Taking into account the fact that 100% of Democrats’ hope that the U.S. would sustain an embarrassing loss in Iraq have diminished, I see now that certain liberal journalists have shifted the attention somewhere else.

Kevin “Drama-Queen” Sites; the magnificient journalist that he is, begins the article (which includes a video) by asking:

What would you do if you were suspected of a crime that could send you to a jail cell in Guantanamo Bay for untold years?

Well, I’d like to end this post by asking three things:

  1. Why in the hell was he allowed to stay in the United States when it was even suspected that he had explosives removed from a storage shed after 9/11!?
  2. If he doesn’t understand that there are 299,999,999 other people residing in this country that need protection from people that look like him, why doesn’t he use his P/R to attack the crazy lunatics that have brought this kind of embarrassment onto him?  No, somehow the U.S. Government is who he has the problem with.  If you ask me, the U.S. Government might need to take one more look!
  3. If he truly doesn’t understand why we have to be protected, why the hell doesn’t he just leave?

The sad fact is he was suspected to have had explosives stored in a rented shed AFTER 9/11 and he was still allowed to stay in the country during the investigation.  The moral of the story here isn’t that his life was terribly interrupted, rather that the Patriot Act isn’t harsh enough.
