My Thoughts on the Sherrod Controversy

Man oh man, the media is eating this up now.  While the public seems to be placing blame where it is due the most in this case — obviously with the White House — I feel emphasis coming from most in the MSM in disparaging Andrew Breitbart and Fox News.

I don’t have an exact re-cap of all the events leading up to the first mention of it on Fox.  I am currently looking into that because of all the accounts I keep hearing on Fox and throughout the day on talk radio, Fox had not even mentioned it until AFTER the White House got word of it and persuaded her to resign by warning her about the big scary Fox and Glenn Beck which was headed her way.

I cannot prove anything but something stinks here.

Yes, Breitbart, Fox, The White House, all owe an apology to Sherrod.  However; Ann Coulter mentioned on Hannity last night that she believed Breitbart was “set up.”  I agree.  However; it still does not excuse Breitbart (whom I adore and shall remain a loyalist to biggovernment.com) from failing to doublecheck the entirety of the speech.

Still, I find it a little odd that in the same week the NAACP passes a ridiculous resolution against the “racist elements” of the Tea Party with specificity (I am still waiting for their resolution against Harry Reid), a mysterious videotape appears.

How about this?  Someone from the other side pieces this together and sends it to Breitbart.  He plays it, Sherrod gets fired because afterall, this administration never investigates anything before rendering opinion  (like the AZ immigration law and Obama saying the Cambridge police acted “stupidly”), the truth then comes out and Sherrod gets to attack Brietbart and Fox for a couple of weeks.

I wouldn’t mention it — because I truly hate conspiracy theories — but it is odd that Fox has been a target of the administration from the get-go and the three major networks have all lost millions of viewers within the last year alone while Fox continues to grow and THIS surfaces months before a midterm election.

In the end, we know the Obama administration acts “stupidly” all the time with rushing to judgment.  But unfortunately, with the rest of the media in his corner, Fox will get the biggest beating over this.

It’s just a theory.  However; I feel it in my bones that we have not heard the end of this and there is indeed one more person out there to surface.

The Big O

I posted here not too long ago about the MSM and liberals seeking to actively ignore the stupid things that Obama and his minions have said and done. Sheila “where are the pictures of the US flag on Mars” Jackson Lee (D-TX) has said so many idiotic things by now that I just weep for my home state when she opens her mouth. Hillary Clinton, with all the millions of dollars to spend on staff that one could ask for, couldn’t find anybody to help them translate the word “reset” into Russian properly and came off looking like a bumbling fool. Joe Biden doesn’t even have to flex his vocal chords anymore; if he merely opens his mouth, his foot lands in it.

Liberals have made much ado about Sarah Palin supposedly being an idiot. Pretty much the only two things they can point to are one interview in which she referred to Africa as a country – a faux pas we don’t actually have video footage of, at least not that I can find – and a later interview in which she couldn’t answer a question about which magazines she read to get her news. Hell, I couldn’t answer that question…I rarely read hard copy of anything these days. That’s what the Associated Press is online for!

Despite Obama saying he’d visited 57 states, mispronouncing “corpsman” twice, including in front of a group of sailors, not remembering the name of the soldier on the KIA bracelet he wore during the campaign (and has since disappeared), and making inappropriate jokes about the Special Olympics on Letterman, the liberals still think he’s endowed with intelligence that we cannot fathom.

And then…there’s this:

Better yet, there’s this:

*Sigh*

I’m beginning to think there’s no hope for liberals. Logic really isn’t that difficult. It simply requires shutting off your emotions long enough to string together a series of coherent thoughts that don’t include the words, “conservatives are racist, hatemongering idiots!”

Why do I call him the Big O? Because members of the press, while traveling with him during his campaign, fawned over him like groupies backstage at a Nickelback concert. They all but threw their underwear at him. The videos I saw were just about the most gag-inducing display of superstar worship I think I’ve ever seen.

Am I a Racist?

Be honest!

In a discussion with a liberal moonbat earlier, I unveiled for him the obvious list of Obambi-related failures.  I also reminded him that a lot of us were able to determine this before he was elected as he had no experience at anything….

I called him “Obama-the-monkey” as the leader to all the same monkeys (moonbats) who walked into a voting booth and voted for this disastrous man to lead our country; thereby, disqualifying them from having any say whatsoever on who our next president should be.

He got mad, avoided the substance, and called me a “racist.”

Slight of Hand

It was big news when, out of nowhere, Democrats announced they were tacking a provision to repeal DADT to a defense spending bill. The announcement just a month ago was that Admiral Mike Mullen, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, openly opposed allowing DADT to continue and supported repeal. Democrats agreed with Secretary of Defense Robert Gates that they would wait to repeal the bill until a report on the impact of a repeal on the capability to recruit and readiness of the military could be completed. A date of December 1 was set.

Then, this week, they announced a sudden change in plans. They couldn’t have had better timing: as Steve pointed out in his post a couple of days ago, the Obama administration has been under fire for the past couple of weeks for their lack of response to the massive pipeline rupture spewing thousands of barrels of oil into the Gulf of Mexico every day. Obama has managed to assign all the blame for the disaster, including the lack of attention to containing the oil that is now washing ashore in Louisiana (or even attempting to begin cleanup efforts, for that matter), to BP. Not only was Katrina Bush’s fault, this disaster is apparently his fault too, according to Madame Speaker Pelosi.

Worse yet, at least for Obama’s legal issues, is the revelation that the White House is tangled up in offering Joe Sestak a job if he would agree to drop out of the primary race for turncoat Arlen Specter’s senate seat. Back in February, Sestak let slip that he’d been offered a high-level job within the Obama administration to drop out of the race and said that he’d adamantly refused to accept the offer, but also refused to give any solid details. The press jumped on the allegation, immediately asking the Big O’s personal talking head Robert Gibbs to explain the claim but everyone had suddenly clammed up.

You see, it is a felony to attempt to bribe a candidate to drop out of a political race, just as it is a felony to bribe a politician to vote a certain way. As soon as the questions surfaced the administration went into lockdown. Nobody said a word. When anybody did speak, the only thing they were allowed to say was, “nothing improper took place.” They were willing to say that nobody did anything wrong, but at the same time they wouldn’t tell us what DID happen. They kept saying that a report was in the works. Odd behavior for a group of extremely powerful people who didn’t do anything illegal, wouldn’t you say?

So, on May 21, the announcement came: in one week a vote would take place on a defense spending bill. Included in the bill was now the language to repeal DADT.

See where I’m going with this yet?

There had previously been absolutely no plan to do anything about DADT until the end of the year. That report was what everything was to be based on, and both SecDef Gates and Admiral Mullen had specifically asked Congress not to revisit the issue until the report was completed. Congress agreed. The only reason they went back on their word was because they needed to do something to drum up some positive press with at least part of their constituency, and the best way to do it was to keep a promise they’d made to the gay community. Repealing DADT will be a historic measure, one guaranteed to win Obama some favor.

The Democrats had to do something to save face. This was the best way to do it. Obama did nothing proactive after the explosion and sinking of the Deepwater Horizon oil platform; he could have gotten the jump on a cleanup effort. He could have saved the coast from the ecological disaster that has already begun, but we’re more than a month out and Obama STILL hasn’t done anything. If you think Katrina was bad, wait to see what happens now.

The report on the Sestak affair wasn’t released until this past Thursday. In it officials claimed that it was Chief of Staff Rahm Emmanuel who asked former president Bill Clinton to offer Sestak the job. I’m curious…if Sestak was being offered a job in Obama’s cabinet, then why didn’t Obama make the offer? Why did a second party need to enlist the aid of a third party, one who is no longer personally in the government, to make the offer? The whole thing reeks of plausible deniability. Everyone involved, from Sestak to Obama, knew perfectly well they were doing something illegal. I have to ask again, also – if nobody did anything wrong, then why couldn’t they have come out the day that Sestak let the cat out of the bag and told us what happened? If that report is the truth, it should have come out three months ago.

I want DADT to be repealed, but this is dishonest and I am no closer to giving Obama or any of the Democrats any kudos than I was before. This was carefully-orchestrated liberal slight of hand. Watch closely, and you might just figure out where the deception is.

“Plug the Damn Hole!”

President Obama, proving yet again that he’s just a normal guy, became agitated during a meeting and snapped, “just plug the damn hole!”

We would all hope he’s talking about Bozo the Veep Joe Biden (who recently delivered a speech in Brussels and declared it the “capital of the free world,” saying that Washington, D.C. was undeserving of the title). After all, every time that guy opens his mouth he kicks his foot straight into it with accuracy unmatched by Audie Murphy. Alas, he wasn’t experiencing a lapse into momentary sanity; he was talking to representatives of oil giant British Petroleum about the oil that continues to gush into the Gulf of Mexico and has begun to creep into the Louisiana wetlands.

I remember in 2005, when Hurricane Katrina first began to pose a threat to New Orleans. For years, forecasters had warned that a strong enough storm would destroy the city, which sits below sea level. City government did nothing about it. Right up to the days leading up to Katrina’s landfall, mayor Ray Nagin refused to even call for a mandatory evacuation until a mere twelve hours before landfall – by which time it was far too late for those with no means of transportation to find a way out of the city. Despite dire warnings of catastrophic flooding, many stayed and scores died for their decision during and after the storm. In the wake of the storm, cities that had been similarly devastated – such as Biloxi, Long Beach and others that had issued the mandatory evacuation orders well in advance of the storm and in plenty of time to save lives – got the help they needed from FEMA and immediately began to rebuild their cities and lives. Something went wrong in New Orleans. Everyone remembers Geraldo Rivera standing on a loading deck at the Superdome, demanding to know why federal help hadn’t arrived.

To this day, everyone blames George W. Bush for failing to act. Nobody remembers that Ray Nagin didn’t have the nerve to tell people to get the hell out. Nobody remembers that the city didn’t have much of a contingency plan. Nobody remembers the cities that didn’t have that issue despite being practically blown off the map. Americans tend to have the attention span of a gnat. If it doesn’t catch their attention with cool music and flashing lights right now, they forget about it.

It was an emotional issue, but one that is still being horribly misjudged. FEMA and federal law require specific requests to specific areas before they can send help. On a smaller scale, look at your local fire department. If you call 911 to report that your neighbor’s house is on fire, the dispatcher takes the information and dispatches the closest available units. Those units not dispatched don’t go; it’s called “jumping the call.” It’s considered disrespect to command and it tends to screw up the general order in effect. The same goes for FEMA. They don’t simply come in and take over because they think it needs to be done. They cannot do what they are not specifically requested to do. For all they know, there’s a plan and their intervention could dramatically screw things up.

Despite these facts, many still blame Bush for the mass deaths in New Orleans in 2005. Now that the Deepwater Horizon has exploded and sunk, leaving a shattered pipeline so far down on the ocean floor that manned watercraft cannot safely reach it because of pressure levels, Louisiana governor Bobby Jindal has put out very specific calls for specific actions from the government and the Army Corps of Engineers. This crisis has dragged on for a month now, and Jindal has gotten absolutely no help from Obama’s government. Jindal is being forced to take action on his own, lowering tons of boom (sand) into the state’s wetlands to protect them from the oil already creeping in.

Obama is proving quite adept at issuing demands for everyone else to fix the issues facing our country. He doesn’t want to enforce immigration laws, but he’s demanding that Arizona knock it off. He wants jobs created, but he doesn’t know how to do it, so he simply demands that hundreds of billions of dollars be thrown at it, and Democrats in the House and Senate are more than willing to oblige. He wants the military’s “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy to be repealed but he doesn’t know how to properly do that, either, so he’s demanding that someone else helm the project. Obama doesn’t know how to respond to a call for assistance from a governor, but he sure as hell knows how to tell the company trying to fix the issue to hurry up and fix it while he makes damn sure to rub elbows with celebrities.

The man doesn’t understand the traditions of the office he holds. He was the first president to ever skip the Medal of Honor Recipients’ Ball on the night of his inauguration since the party’s inception in 1953. Instead he felt it necessary to hit all the inaugural balls that included major celebrities. He’s been snapped on multiple occasions standing with his hands in an embarrassing fig-leaf position during the playing of the National Anthem while everyone else properly places their hands over their hearts (or stands at attention, if in the military). He’s been caught on film bowing to both the Saudi king and the Japanese emperor. It took him badly mispronouncing “corpsman” TWICE before he got it right, and neither time did the media ever pick up on it (except FOX). He abandoned the traditional White House Christmas ornaments for those decorated with Chairman Mao and one of RuPaul’s “Drag Race” contestants. He will be the first President in a very long string of them to forego the Memorial Day tradition of laying a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier next week for a trip to Chicago, but he’ll be damn sure to be back in time to hobnob with Sir Paul McCartney. Next we’ll be hearing that he’s auctioning off slumber parties in the Lincoln Bedroom of the White House. Oh, wait…

Mr. President, you want them to “plug the damn hole.” I have a demand now, before you open your mouth one more time about Arizona’s law enforcement:

READ THE DAMN BILL!!!

Slick

This story comes from FoxNews.com.

Federal officials say they plan to investigate every possible cause of last week’s massive explosion on the Deepwater Horizon oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico — including the possibility of criminal acts or negligence….

The Department of Homeland Security and the Department of the Interior are conducting a joint investigation into the explosion. “Investigations are ongoing and everything will be examined,” a DOI official told FoxNews.com in an e-mail Friday when asked if any evidence points to acts of criminality or negligence. “It’s obviously too early to know.”

They need to examine “everything.”  Negligence?  Maybe.  Criminality?  Maybe so.

I’m not going to say too much more.

It’s a sad shame that this oil rig disaster happened so soon after a major disaster in West Virginia at the Massey coal mine.  America’s fossil fuel industries really seem to be taking a major beating lately.  And it’s a horrible shame.  Obama had just opened himself up to the idea of increased offshore drilling in an attempt to alleviate America’s increasing dependence on foreign energy sources. Now I guess that will have to be on hold.  I know that Barack is torn up about this.

I’m sure that these two tragedies will set our nation back in their attempts to tap domestic energy sources. The federal government will surely need to investigate and possibly increase regulations and safeguards in order to make sure that these types of things don’t happen again.

It’s just a damned shame that these two disasters had to occur.  It really shakes America’s confidence in our energy producers.  And for these two events to happen so closely in succession…..damned shame.

Erasing Moral Hazard

I cannot understand the mentality of someone who slams Wall Street while they simultaneously ask for its support

A position like this usually indicates an avoidance of a point.  That point in this case would be acknowledging the federal government’s interference and what affect it has.  Under George Bush, the regulators didn’t stop Bernie Madoff.  Regulators are federal employees paid for with our tax dollars.  When the United States Government chooses to assert themselves as “Master” instead of “Servant,” the consequences are never far behind.

We saw it happen with the collapse of the banking industry.  When is someone going to confront the president with the fact that it was government interference which lead to the creation of Fannie and Freddie?  What did these government entities do?  They used taxpayer money to back bad loans.  This practice — along with regulation — enabled corruption all across the land.  As with most government “assistance,” it enabled the corrupt and punished the worthy.  No moral hazard whatsoever.  Big homes with no money down!  Subprime mortgages for everyone!  A sweetheart Countrywide deal for Chris Dodd and a scratch on the back from Barney Frank’s “acquaintance” sitting on the top of the banking institution’s panel.

It makes one wonder why “the last eight years” was referenced as Obama’s boneheaded hypocrisy (damning Wall Street while asking them to be your friend) shines through it all.

The good news is that Americans are inheriting a lot of important wisdom right now and November is right around the corner.

Obama’s Version of “With Us or Against Us”

Today, Barack Obama did the unthinkable: he sat down with a Fox News anchor, Brett Baier. Click here and you can see the first part of the video.

I love this…he starts off by saying, “What I can tell you is that the vote that’s taken in the House will be a vote for health care reform. And if people vote yes, whatever form that takes, that is going to be a vote for health care reform. And I don’t think we should pretend otherwise. And if they don’t, if they vote against it, then they’re going to be voting against health care reform and they’re going to be voting in favor of the status quo.”

In other words? You’re either with us or against us. Isn’t that one of those Bush phrases that Democrats got so hot under the collar about after 9/11 when we went to Afghanistan to kick out the Taliban and then to Iraq to depose Saddam?

Oh, and I love this…Obama and his handlers (i.e. Gibbs and Axelrod) are forever accusing Fox of not being a real news agency. They’re always saying that Fox is biased, they have an agenda, and they only report facts based on that agenda. What do they have to say now that dear leader is on the record beating around the bush and refusing to answer Baier’s straightforward questions about the issues in the healthcare bill?

I forgot. They don’t have to say anything about it, and Obama won’t ever be held to account for it. Why? Because the MSM isn’t biased, Fox is. That’ll be their singular excuse. It’ll be all they have to say. Fox isn’t news.

When all else fails, blame Fox.

This Week’s “Sarah Palin” Hysteria

(Image created by liberal critics from Americans for Sarah Palin on Facebook)

Two major news stories are surfacing on left-wing blogs everywhere about Sarah Palin.

First, Palin responded light-heartedly to the “controversy” over scribbling six words on her hands before her Tea Party Speech by repeating an e-mail she got from a fan who told Sarah that God had done the same thing — mentioned in the Book of Isiah.  Palin then said that if it was good enough for God, it was good enough for her.

Suddenly, left-wing blogs are rushing to God’s defense.  For those out there wondering how bizarre this is, just think of a feminist rushing to the defense of a baby right before the late-term abortion is performed or Teddy Kennedy jumping back into the harbor to save Mary Jo.

Such as it was good enough for a laugh — as most folks really are interpreting it — their portrayal of Palin is comparing herself to God! (as they shout indignantly) is also logically untrue.  In fact, she was speaking in contrast to God.  I.E. If the almighty did it, what more can you expect out of a mere mortal?

And by the way, which President has had pictures of himself taken all over the White House and which President has been copied and pasted into the Messiah-like images before?

In the case of Him, they were serious.  In the case of Her, they were sadly attempting sarcasm to profess false beliefs onto conservative Americans.  The only problem is, they did it first with their guy — AND THEY WERE SERIOUS ABOUT IT!

Of course, conservatives would never deliberately place the photograph of a politician we loved in the place of the Messiah.  But knowing liberals were serious when they did it with theirs, it just gives the lie to this absurdity about Palin believing she is God-like or Christian-conservatives believing it as well.

No, Sarah Palin is not Jesus Christ.  She merely believes in Him, just like we do.

Moving on….

Giving a speech in Canada this weekend, Palin recollects her childhood in Skagway, Alaska 40 years ago as she recalls crossing Canadian lines and using their health care.

Yes, you know where this is going.  It’s already been covered on the Huffington Post, the Daily Kos, and tonight on MSNBC

Suddenly, Palin is a hypocrite who uses the socialized health care system of Canada.  Nevermind the fact that both systems of health care in both countries were slightly different 40 years ago.  Nevermind the fact that she lived in a town called Skagway which rested on the Canadian border just years after Alaska had become a state.

The joy of Sarah Palin is watching the left try as hard as they do.  I think for me, she’s already won the big battle with them.  What MSNBC and Media Matters fail to provide us with is precisely what the alternative was for the Palin family back then?  Just what did they want them to do?  Drive to Washington state every time someone broke a bone or had a fever?

My theory?  Palin knew liberals would react this way.  It wasn’t accidental that she mentioned this in her speech.  And the darlings of the left have not yet figured it out (to the point that screaming it from the rooftops now won’t take them out of their rotting anti-Palin daze) that they are so typical, they continue to eat out of her hand (with or without the scribbled words).

They run around screaming about how she’s such a dope — but they’ve all been duped by that “dope” over and over again.

Growing Socialism Disguised as “Credits” — Beware!

It angers me that many conservatives — though they have done a great job at holding liberals accountable for their desired health care takeover — have not taken the President to task over his idea for student loan debt forgiveness.

I graduated an online university about two years ago.  I work full-time for a living so many liberals would criticize me.  No, not just for working, being the evil free-market capitalist I am, but they will probably say I wasn’t smart enough to study accounting at some ground university they’d approve of.

In truth, I used an online university for the convenience and paid about $50K for a standard Bachelor’s Degree.  I was an A student, I even did it full-time while I pushed through various tax seasons. I am proud of what was available and affordable to me and of my academic achievements.  All in all I felt good for working hard and getting through it.  Anybody could have done it, but sadly many won’t.

As non-elite as my University was (like Palin’s or Reagan’s as well), I received a quality education for a price I could afford.  Like them and millions of other Americans, I CONTINUED TO WORK full-time through school and made monthly payments to the University.  I came out of it owing about $27,000 in student loans.

For the last two years, I have made regular monthly payments.  In addition, I’ve sent extra payments towards the principal balance reducing the debt substantially.  I have a couple years left, but I will pay it, because I borrowed it!

University elites will continue to jack up education costs — the same university board members that contain the likes of folks like Obama and Bill Ayers.  What better way to hand it all out to folks than to offer a tax credit of up to $10,000 for students, right?  So, basically, we get 100 people doing what only 10 had the courage and wisdom to do without the government steak waved in front of them.  Less competition, less folks caring about the quality of their education, less folks paying attention, plus a lot more beer drinking and pre-marital sex.

Why?  Why don’t we notice the President’s own words in his State of the Union address where he announced plans to forgive student loan debt after 20 years for anyone?  And what happens if you enter college and prep for public service?  Yep, you get your debt forgiven after only TEN years!

This is a blatant attempt to grow socialism which involves buffeting children in the public schools, entice them to enter college and rack up $100K in debt and wind up paying back only about half of that.  Then what happens?  Are the schools going to reimburse the government the difference or will it be burdened on taxpayers?

And just why does a choice for public office get you a 10-year faster benefit for loan forgiveness?

Could it be that we want kids dependent on the government from the moment they enter school to the moment they get their first job?  Could it be that we are working to crank out a greater number of government workers than we are free-market capitalists?  Then what happens after that?  More votes for the future Hugo Chavez’s of this country!

Folks, if this “proposal” becomes a reality, we are looking at a disaster that will cause as much trouble as the United States Government getting its hands on health care.

Say NO!  Otherwise the Congressman representing your district in 20 years just might be a person who couldn’t pay off his own damn debt that he created and felt entitled to.

We already see what happens through Obama, the Clintons, and even worse – the Kennedys – when politicians are bred from birth.  The best politicians who delivered the best for Americans like Washington, Reagan, or even Palin as leader of her town or state — are people who were forced to be Americans first.  People who were forced to work in the free market and not in universities, law schools, or fancy prep schools.

If this disaster happens, you can expect millions more in the next couple of generations.
